Job Description
The Data Protection & Privacy Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the organisation's data protection and data privacy program.
facilitate compliance with the General Data protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable data protection legislation by ensuring effective systems and Controls are in place to enable Fastmarkets, including its managers and employees, to comply with their legal obligations.
Act as a focal point for data protection activities and foster a good data protection culture within Fastmarkets by collaborating with various departments.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Provide “first line of support” to triage data privacy queries from the business.
- Manage and update compliance-related documentation, including incident logs and other reporting documentation.
- Create and update policies, processes and reports.
- Carry out data privacy and protection research and remain up to date with the changes in relevant privacy/protection legislation.
- Manage the privacy/protection self-help tools on the Intranet.
- Manage and respond to data subject requests.
- Review new suppliers.
- Review data processing agreements.
- Manage the DPIA process and assist the business with completion on DPIA’s.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated, driven, and have a passion to be part of a fast-paced, successful team. Being a strong team player is also important as well as someone who is happy to work flexibly.
• Either completed or working towards privacy certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, PC.dp (or equivalent).
• Have experience of advising on the application of privacy legislation and the management of privacy risk.
• Have a good understanding of UK and EU privacy legislation. Ideally you would have some knowledge of US and other global data privacy legislation or be willing to learn.
• Have experience in drafting and reviewing data protection provisions in contracts.
• Have experience completing DPIAs and mitigating privacy risks.
• Experience of handling data subject requests, including but not limited to, DSARs and erasure requests, or an understanding of how to handle these requests.
• Excellent policy/documentation skills including creating and updating.
• A continuous improvement mindset, and a commitment to knowledge sharing.
• Ability to prioritise workloads and problem-solve.
• A self-starter who is confident in communicating with business and technology partners and senior management.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) across different functions.
• Bring a proactive approach to our data privacy processes, rather than adopting a ‘wait to be asked’ approach.
