The Infrastructure Engineer – Cloud

About the role: 

The Infrastructure Engineer – Cloud is responsible for leading the design, implementation, support, and continuous improvement of LIC’s IT infrastructure with a focus on cloud. This role focuses on delivering secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure across cloud and on-prem environments, enabling the business to operate efficiently, securely, and in line with modern best practices.  

Key responsibilities: 

• Infrastructure Management: Architect, design, implement, maintain, and document IT infrastructure. Review and test backup, recovery, and security protocols. Implement Zero Trust security controls. Lead changes through the change advisory board. Analyse system logs and dashboards to identify and fix issues. 

• Security & Compliance: Integrate NIST and CIS security frameworks into infrastructure management. 

• Cloud Management: Lead and manage cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure) to support business needs and security requirements. Optimize cloud resources and implement security controls. Provide expertise on cloud cost optimization. 

• Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with stakeholders, Security team, vendors, and end-users to deliver secure, reliable solutions. Act as a trusted advisor for infrastructure security initiatives. 

• Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with cloud security trends. Recommend and implement innovations. Champion information security. 

• Auditing: Support audits related to cloud systems. 

• Monitoring & Incident Response: Set up and manage monitoring tools. Investigate and respond to security breaches in real-time. 

About you: 

As a seasoned professional, you'll bring a wealth of experience in infrastructure and cloud security management. You'll have a strong background in architecting, designing, and implementing IT infrastructure, with a keen focus on security and compliance. Your expertise in cloud environments, particularly AWS and Azure, allows you to optimize resources and ensure robust security controls. 

You're adept at collaborating with stakeholders, the Security team, vendors, and end-users to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable solutions. Your ability to stay updated with emerging trends in cloud security technology and recommend innovative solutions aligns perfectly with LIC’s goals. 

To ensure your success, you'll demonstrate: 

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. 

• Over 5 years of experience in an Infrastructure/Cloud/DevOps Engineer or Security Operations role. 

• Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Security – Specialty, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or CISSP. 

• A solid understanding of security frameworks such as NIST, CIS, and Zero Trust principles. 

• Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. 

• A proven track record in leading and implementing security enhancements, resulting in significant and measurable improvements. 

• The ability to support audits, report on compliance, and ensure adherence to regulatory standards. 

• The ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels, translate technical concepts into business value, and provide clear guidance. 

• An analytical mindset with the ability to identify challenges and implement effective solutions. 

• Experience with cloud infrastructure security, including designing and implementing secure access controls with monitoring. 

• Knowledge of network security tools and practices, including network security groups (NSGs), firewalls, access controls, and Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IDPS). 

• Experience with cloud infrastructure tooling and understanding of cloud cost models and resource optimization strategies to reduce overhead.
