The CBA technology unit delivers the best digital banking services to Commonwealth Bank customers and to do so is responsible for digital delivery, group data and analytics, technology and technology infrastructure, cyber, fraud, physical security and business resilience for all divisions across CBA. It is also dedicated to delivering the best workplace technology experience for our over 53.000 people across CBA and focused on providing the latest tools, technology, and resources to enhance the way we work together and empower our people to achieve more for our customers.

In this role, you will be joining CommSec Global Access and Specialised Products Chapter, a part of the group’s CommSec Technology practice and our wider Business Banking Technology Division. Along with the chapter, you will be working on products to enable international trading services and supporting CommSec’s specialized Products. e.g. Options Trading.

CommSec is Australia's largest online retail stockbroker. It is one of the most highly visible and visited online assets in Australian financial services. CommSec’s systems utilise a variety of technologies and support a broad range of investors. Software engineers within CommSec are offered regular opportunities to work on some of the finest IT systems in Australia, as well as having opportunity to develop careers across different functions and teams within the wider Bank.

    

We’re interested in hearing from people who: 

  • Can demonstrate modern C#, .NET Core, SQL, coding practices and drive high quality outcomes to solve core business objectives is essential.

  • Have the ability to deliver performance focused solutions which cater for a high volume & secure platform.

  • Have an excellent understanding of microservices architecture and restful API design patterns.

  • Apply best-practice security techniques to web applications and APIs.

  • Can develop scalable and secure enterprise applications capable of handling high traffic.

  • Can design innovative solutions to solve complicated problems as part of a cross-functional squad.

  • Ensure our technical approach is sound, fit-for-purpose, and well architected.

  • Support deployments across AWS (Amazon Web Services) environments through our continuous delivery pipelines.

Tech skills:

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team;

  • Expert in SDLC and Agile methods with broader experience around architecture, design, implementation, deployment, integration, and technology transformations.

  • Advanced experience developing applications using Microsoft technologies such as C#, Asp.Net, .Net Core and SQL.

  • Excellent understanding of microservices architecture and restful API design patterns.

  • Familiarity with containerisation and public cloud engineering e.g AWS – desirable.

  • Familiarity with event-based application models,

  • The ability to design robust, highly scalable and secure solutions applying OWASP top 10 principals.

  • Expertise in setting up DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, logging and monitoring tools (TeamCity, Octopus, GitHub, GitHub Actions, Artifactory, Snyk and Sonarqube).

  • Automated quality engineering and testing (Unit Testing, Regression Testing).
