This is a rare opportunity to secure the global network infrastructure of one of the world’s most rapidly scaling biotech organizations. As a Senior Network Security Engineer, you will play a mission-critical role in designing, implementing, and safeguarding secure network frameworks across global enterprise and cloud environments. Your deep technical expertise will enable Moderna to protect sensitive data, maintain regulatory compliance, and proactively mitigate evolving threats. With direct exposure to high-impact initiatives, global infrastructure, and opportunities to shape the future of security automation, this role is ideal for a security professional passionate about protecting the digital backbone of mRNA innovation.
Here’s What You’ll Do:
Your key responsibilities will be:
Design, implement, and manage a comprehensive network security framework encompassing firewalls, VPNs, NAC, and CASB solutions.
Evaluate and recommend advanced technologies such as SIEM platforms, threat intelligence systems, and monitoring tools to reduce risk exposure.
Define and enforce security policies and standards aligned with GxP and other regulatory mandates.
Oversee deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management of security hardware/software, including solutions from Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, and Infoblox.
Continuously monitor logs, metrics, and network activity to detect vulnerabilities and execute preventive actions.
Your responsibilities will also include:
Serve as a Level 3 escalation point within a defined on-call rotation for global security incidents.
Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and post-event retrospectives to strengthen system resilience.
Maintain and update incident response protocols, playbooks, and SOPs to ensure rapid mitigation.
Lead the implementation of security automation frameworks and collaborate with audit teams to meet GxP, NIST, and ISO 27001 compliance requirements.
Partner with engineering, IT, and operations teams to integrate security into infrastructure and applications.
Mentor internal teams on emerging threats, best practices, and mitigation techniques.
Contribute to the security lifecycle with support for threat modeling, pen testing coordination, and vulnerability assessments.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)
8+ years of experience in network security architecture, implementation, and operations within large-scale enterprise environments.
Deep expertise in firewalls, IPS/IDS, VPN, Secure Access (CASB), SIEM, DNS Security, and Network Access Control (NAC).
Extensive technical knowledge of industry-leading security platforms such as Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, Infoblox, and other.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and respond to emerging security threats effectively.
A customer-first mindset with a commitment to protecting organizational assets and data integrity.
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications):.
Experience working in GxP-regulated environments is a plus. If no prior GxP experience, the candidate should be capable of quickly learning GxP requirements and implementing best practices for compliance.
Experience in biotech, pharmaceutical, or healthcare settings is preferred.
Proven project management skills, with the ability to independently lead small to medium-sized security initiatives.
Experience with security automation and scripting (Python, Ansible) to streamline security processes and enforce Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
A passion for staying ahead of security threats, trends, and emerging technologies.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear documentation and executive-level reports.
Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCNP Security, PCNSE, or equivalent network security credentials are a plus.
Ability to collaborate effectively across internal teams, stakeholders, and external partners to enhance security posture.
