VMware by Broadcom is the leader in datacenter infrastructure, networking and security business, and virtualization software. We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Engineer on our Security Intelligence team in the Application Networking and Security (ANS) division.

A tightly knit and fast paced team, Security Intelligence develops a distributed analytics engine that gives customers real time, actionable insights into their VCF deployments. Security Intelligence is focused on security, with Distributed Firewall recommendation, network traffic anomalies detection and network flows visualization and monitoring being some core features.

We are looking for engineers who share our passion for innovation in the fields of network security, distributed systems, machine learning, and big data visualization. You'll be working on Kubernetes based platform with technologies like Kafka, Apache Druid, Spark, Redis, MinIO built with Java Spring/Golang framework to enable our customers to better protect their networks against threats, deliver granular network analytics, and gain datacenter–wide visibility.

Success in the Role:

• Be a hands-on technical leader who will design and develop software architecture and highly performant features for Security Intelligence

• Lead and participate in design and code reviews to build highly scalable and a performant distributed system architecture.

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?  

• You will contribute to key pieces of Security Intelligence, including but not limited to network flows and application visualization and monitoring, policy recommendation, network traffic anomalies detection.

• You will analyze and improve performance, scalability, and stability of the above big data applications that ingest and process terabytes of data.

• You will be driven and passionate about understanding customer needs and crafting high quality solutions to meet those needs.

• You will architect and implement scalable recommendation pipelines and API services using Java, with SQL and NoSQL storage backends

• You will enhance and extend system components with your expertise in Java and GoLang.

• You will lead deployment and automation in Kubernetes Environments using Docker and Helm, enabling seamless integration, automation, and scaling of Intelligence applications

• You will equip customer-facing teams with technical expertise to enhance product understanding and support.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in developing distributed, multi-tier enterprise applications. 

• Solid knowledge of OOP concepts, object/data modeling, and data structures. 

• Deep working knowledge/expertise in Java and some proficiency in Golang.

• Background in Relational Databases and NOSQL Databases.

• Performance Analysis and Optimization in Big Data processing.

• Experience with Spring and SpringBoot

• Experience with Druid, Kafka, Spark, Postgres

• Exposure to firewall and end-point security concepts

• Exposure to virtualization technologies.

Education/Experience
Bachelor degree in Computer Science / Engineering and 8+ years of related experience or Masters degree in Computer Science / Engineering and 6+ years of related experience or PhD / Engineering and 3+ years of related experience

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $119,000 - $190,000 

This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
