SPY-6 Family of Radars is seeking a highly experienced and visionary Senior Principal Infrastructure Architect to lead the strategic design, development, and implementation of our tactical operating systems, software COTS across the FoR. This pivotal role will define the overarching architectural vision for our infrastructure to include support for our security technologies, ensuring seamless integration, strict adherence to standards, and proactive adaptation to the ever-evolving infrastructure needs. The ideal candidate will possess profound technical mastery in infrastructure engineering and network architecture, network security, complemented by exceptional leadership acumen, articulate communication abilities, robust problem-solving capabilities, and a passion for fostering the growth of junior team members. As a recognized thought leader, you will champion innovation, provide strategic counsel to both secure systems engineering (SSE) and broader cross product teams, and play a key role in developing the next generation of System Engineering (SE) and SSE professionals.

What You will Do:
Strategic Vision and Leadership: Formulate and maintain the organization's long-term systems infrastructure architecture strategy, ensuring its alignment with overarching naval radars goals and anticipating future security challenges. Provide expert thought leadership and strategic guidance on emerging paradigms and technological advancements.
Holistic Architectural Design and Implementation Oversight: Architect and design intricate, enterprise-grade security solutions spanning a number of domains, including network security, identity and access management frameworks, data protection strategies, and endpoint security measures. Provide expert oversight during the implementation and seamless integration of these critical security solutions.
Security Standards and Governance: Support the Cyber Sustainment Lead in implementing comprehensive security architecture standards, robust policies, and industry-leading best practices across the entirety of the family of radars technology infrastructure. Ensure unwavering compliance with all relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g., NIST 800-53).
Technology Evaluation and Strategic Selection: in partnership with SSE CPT, rigorously evaluate and strategically recommend technologies and vendor solutions based on stringent technical evaluations, comprehensive cost-benefit analyses, and seamless alignment with established architectural requirements. Lead and execute thorough proof-of-concept (POC) initiatives to validate technology effectiveness.
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Expert Communication: Foster seamless collaboration with teams, including infrastructure, software development, and other engineering units, to ensure the integration of security considerations throughout the entire technology lifecycle. Articulate complex technical concepts with clarity and precision to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Mentorship and Technical Guidance: Serve as a mentor and provide expert technical guidance to other secure systems engineers and other engineers within the team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and security excellence. Actively participate in the training and development of junior cybersecurity engineers and architects. Provide guidance, mentorship, and knowledge transfer to help them grow their technical skills and understanding of infrastructure security principles and practices.
Comprehensive Documentation: Develop and maintain meticulous and comprehensive architecture documentation, including detailed diagrams, clearly defined standards, and practical implementation guidelines.
Continuous Improvement and Innovation: Maintain a deep and current understanding of the latest cybersecurity threats, emerging vulnerabilities, and cutting-edge technologies. Proactively identify and champion opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation within the organization's security landscape.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 10 years of prior relevant experience.
Ability to obtain security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer:
Experience with DevSecOps principles, practices, and tooling.
Experience with RHEL based systems.
Knowledge of various infrastructure modeling methodologies and their practical application.
Experience working within the defense industry.
Proficiency in automation and scripting languages commonly used in security and infrastructure management (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash).
Experience developing and delivering technical training materials or workshops.
