Senior Cyber Security Engineer
Location: Flexible – Staines (TW18 3DZ) or Salford (M50 3SP)
Flexible / Hybrid working.
Permanent
£60,300 - £73,000 (Neg depending on experience & location)
10% Bonus (Company & Performance related)
Full time – 37.5 hours per week
Occasional on-call duties as needed

As a Level 3 Security Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in shaping and maintaining Bupa's enterprise security framework. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the functionality of security tools and systems, maintaining and enhancing security measures and protocols, overseeing the performance of monitoring and reporting devices and improving security strategies, guidelines and rule sets.
How you’ll help us make health happen:
Configure, implement, and manage security hardware and software systems across On-Premise and Cloud/SAAS solutions.
Take accountability for assigned tools and services.
Develop playbooks, policies, and custom rulesets; perform tool tuning and whitelisting to enhance security.
Contribute to strategies for responding to and recovering from security incidents and breaches.
Lead validation and testing of hardware and software solutions to ensure compliance with security standards.
Monitor and manage security systems for optimal performance, including timely patching and updates.
Collaborate with vendors, system designers, and architects to develop technical solutions that meet security requirements.
Act as a subject matter expert, providing technical advice and contributing to security policy design and implementation.
Work with product management teams to ensure security milestones are met within delivery/sprint timelines.
Mentor team members, sharing knowledge and support.
Automate processes wherever possible and challenge non-automated processes.
Understand business needs and work closely with key stakeholders.
Implement and deploy security policies; create technical security standards based on policy objectives and requirements.
Continuously learn and adapt to new technologies, staying updated on emerging security threats and trends.
Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:
Required Skills:
Strong interpersonal skills for partnering with IT and business stakeholders at all levels.
Diverse IT background with experience in BAU support and project-based environments, including End-User Computing, Hosting, and Networks.
Experience in a product-based environment with demonstrated Agile working practices.
Proficiency in cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, GCP) is highly beneficial.
Skilled in network troubleshooting and issue resolution.
Hands-on experience with Security Logging & Monitoring.
Familiarity with intrusion techniques at both perimeter and host levels.
Experience with automation tooling.
Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Hashicorp, Terraform).
Hands-on experience with KQL.
Advantageous experience includes:Infrastructure as Code

M365/Defender 365
Microsoft Sentinel

Scripting abilities
Qualifications:
• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent certification.
• Certified Microsoft SC 200/500/900
