Journeyman Computer Systems Engineer/Architect

Overview

DecisionPoint Corporation is seeking a Journeyman Computer Systems Engineer/Architect to join our team on an upcoming contract to support the Unites States Coast Guard USCG) Aviation Logistics Center (ALC) Information Systems Division (ISD) in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. The USCG ALC ISD provides development, security, and operations (DevSecOps) IT support for products and services for the Coast Guard Information Officer (CIO), Commandant, and Coast Guard Cyber Command through a geo-dispersed workforce including military, civilians, an contractor personnel committed to supporting the USCG’s missions and requirements of the leading growing interconnectivity, increased reliance on data and networks, and development of commercial space and artificial intelligence systems.

Position is on-site with off-site capabilities.

Duties & Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the Journeyman Computer Systems Engineer/Architect include:

• Design and develop solutions to complex applications problems, system administration issues, or network concerns.
• Perform systems management and integration functions.
• Participates in developing new software solution concepts and related enterprise logistics systems (utilizing the Agile Software Development principles) to extend current capability for a projected period of 5 years.
• Develop software standards for use with software tools / solutions to improve system stability.
• Manage and incorporate industry proven technology for asset logistic support solutions and identify standard process for support of software whether developed organically or acquired by other means (GOTS, COTS etc.).
• Participates in supporting the enterprise applications through the use of industry accepted practices for the evaluation of alternative solutions to meet customer’s existing requirements and USCG modernization efforts.
• Participate in the internal validation documentation to include, but not limited to, technical specifications, special instructions, and regression test plans.
• Participates in debugging software and identify required corrections to meet specified requirements.

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance. 
• Bachelor’s or associate degree in Computer Science, Math, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field or at minimum IT Certification.
  • Note: Two (2) years’ experience is equivalent to one (1) year of education.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience with Ingres relational databases software, SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle relational database software. Experience in principles, practices, or procedures used in phases of application/system life cycle development, engineering, programming, and/or analysis.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience with Procedure Language/SQL and stored procedures and triggers.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a System Modeling Tool.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience with Kubernetes, Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket or equivalent.
