Responsibilities

What you get to do every day:

• Virtual Desktop Engineer to support the design, configuration, and maintenance of a large, globally accessed virtual desktop environment.  

• This role will be the SME in troubleshooting all related performance issue across the organization.  

• Additionally, the position will require an individual experienced in system design and integration, identity life-cycle management, and process automation and improvement.

• In addition to architecting and designing, the VDI Engineer will provide TIER 3/4 support to system administrators in order to resolve VDI issues.

• Provide guidance on optimization of desktops for platform interoperability and act as liaison between Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) technologies.

• Offers endpoint support on issues and trouble resolution tasks on Virtual Desktop related tasks.

• Maintains an Advanced knowledge relative to administration, engineering, and implementation of virtual desktop infrastructure-related technologies.

• Operate across multiple and complex production environments with multiple stakeholders.

• Applies extensive technical expertise and has full knowledge of other related disciplines.

• Conducts trade studies and makes recommendations on solutions and "make buy" decisions.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

• Requires Bachelor's Degree in Computer Programming, Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience
• 5+ years of experience

Required Skills:

• Experience providing engineering support for legacy and current versions of Citrix products.

• Progressive roles from Administrator to Sr. Engineer

• Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops v7.15 and later

• Citrix Provisioning Services (PVS) and Machine Creation Services (MCS)

• Citrix Cloud Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD)

• Citrix Netscaler / ADC / VPX

• Citrix Workspace Environment Management (WEM)

• Citrix App Layering

• Liquidware Profile Unity

• Hyper V, VMWare VDI (Microsoft or Citrix NetScalers / ADCs)

• Proven track record designing and maintaining VDI in a large enterprise.
• A motivated self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills, who exceeds as an individual, as well as excels among peers in a team environment.
• Possess a passion for operational excellence and a high level of interpersonal and soft skills.

What is ideal?

• Experience managing and administering Windows Server clustering

• Experience with Infrastructure as code technologies such as Terraform, Ansible, etc.

• System Center Virtual Machine Manager/Vmware Vcenter 6.7

• Active Directory/ Group Policies

• Home Directory and Profile management Support Services

• Desktop Software provisioning and Support Services

• Experience in technical operations at DOD agencies, particularly NGA and DIA
