About the role
We are seeking a Security Engineer to strengthen Forterra’s corporate security by designing, deploying, automating, and maintaining information-security processes and systems. You will serve as the primary escalation point for security issues—collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and drawing on deep expertise in endpoint, application, cloud, and network security. You’ll ensure our systems meet rigorous security standards and take ownership of security incidents, policy inquiries, and technicalchallenges, driving each to timely, robust resolution.
What you'll do
- Design, implement, and maintain automated security tools and processes.
- Lead security incident response efforts.
- Conduct technical security assessments and design reviews.
- Implement or drive solutions to mitigate identified security vulnerabilities.
- Promote security best practices across Forterra.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive measurable risk reduction.
- Monitor emerging threats and trends to proactively safeguard the business.
Qualifications
- Deep infrastructure security expertise, from high-level architecture through low-level implementation.
- Proficiency in one or more scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, or Bash).
- Proficiency in one or more query languages (KQL, SQL, or SPL).
- Proven ability to drive efficiencies through automation and cross-functional collaboration.
- Demonstrated record of working hard, being a trustworthy teammate, holding yourself and others to high standards, and being kind to others.
- Skill in translating technical and administrative security controls into actionable platform configurations.
- Experience implementing controls or ensuring compliance with CIS Benchmarks, NIST SP 800-171, or 1DISA STIGs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with infrastructure as code and configuration management e.g., Terraform, Ansible,
- Expertise in securing and operating within multiple cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience in M365 GCC High is beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills; Assisting with internal and external communication and improving transparency.
- Programming experience is a big plus.
- Experience in a start-up or similar fast-paced environment.
Education & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related field; relevant certifications are nice, but demonstrated passion for security are highly valued.
US Salary Range
$110,000—$150,000
The salary range for this role is an estimate and is based on a wide variety of compensation factors. The salary offered to candidates will vary based on a variety of factors including (but not limited to) relevant work experience, education, specialized training, critical expertise, training, and more. Equity in Forterra is included in most of our full-time, high-demand roles and is therefore considered part of Forterra’s overall compensation package. In addition to base salary and equity, Forterra offers competitive benefits for full-time employees including:
