About the opportunity
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Data Security Engineer to join our security team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining data security measures, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive data across our systems. You will work closely with other security teams, product development, and IT departments to enforce data protection best practices, meet compliance requirements, and minimize data risks across the organization.

What you’ll get to do
• Design, implement, and maintain data security policies and procedures to ensure data is protected across all stages of its lifecycle (creation, storage, transmission, and deletion).
• Data discovery, tagging and policies for Microsoft Purview DSPM
• Define and enforce best practices for encrypting sensitive data both at rest and in transit, using industry-standard encryption protocols.
• Develop and enforce role-based access control (RBAC), identity and access management (IAM) policies, and least-privilege access principles to ensure only authorized personnel can access sensitive data.
• Implement data classification strategies to categorize data according to its sensitivity and apply appropriate controls.
• Implement and maintain Data Security Posture management and loss prevention (DLP) technologies to protect against unauthorized data exfiltration.
• Monitor and respond to data security incidents related to potential data breaches or loss.

Skills and experience we value
• 3+ years of experience in data security, information security, or a related field.
• Experience with data protection technologies, including encryption, DLP, DSPM, and access control.
• Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and data security best practices for cloud-based systems.
• Hands-on experience with security tools and technologies such as data encryption solutions, DLP systems, and identity management platforms.
• Experience with security frameworks and regulations, such as GDPR, SOC 2, and NIST.
• Strong knowledge of data protection principles, including encryption, data masking, tokenization, and anonymization.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, JSON) to automate security tasks and processes.
• Strong understanding of threat modeling, risk management, and vulnerability management processes.
• Experience with incident response and digital forensics, particularly related to data breaches and security incidents.
• Familiarity with database security, data access logging, and cloud data security practices.
