We’re looking for a Data Security Engineer to lead ongoing managed data security services for Sentra’s key customers. In this role, you’ll act as a Managed Data Security Provider (MDSP) — working directly with customers in their cloud environments, taking ownership of identifying risks, coordinating remediations, and driving long-term data security maturity.

Responsibilities

  • Work with customers to build and implement their data security practice by engaging stakeholders and designing detailed plans and timelines for deploying required data controls.
  • Ensure that all data stores containing sensitive information (e.g., PII) are protected through controls such as: encryption at rest, Database logging, backups, enforced data retention policies in line with privacy requirements.
  • Implement and maintain a data security program that ensures ongoing compliance with standards and enables quick identification of non-compliant databases.
  • Prioritize and coordinate the implementation of database security controls across key environments and systems.
  • Collaborate with the customer’s CISO, Director of Product Security, engineering managers, squads, and operations teams to ensure successful remediation and secure-by-default infrastructure.
  • Provide regular management reporting, tracking remediation metrics and project progress in weekly and monthly updates.

Requirements


  • 3+ years of experience in DevOps/ Data Security Engineer with deep understanding of data security controls (e.g., encryption, retention, backups, logging) across cloud providers and data store types.
  • Experience in customer-facing roles, working directly with stakeholders across multiple customer environments.
  • Solid knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, and GCP).
  • Familiarity with Terraform and CloudFormation.
  • Knowledge of data protection and privacy frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001).
  • Strong project coordination and stakeholder management experience.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with or alongside CISOs, product security teams, and engineering leadership - an advantage.
