US Battlefield Information Collection and Exploitation Systems eXtended (US BICES-X) is a cutting edge program supporting DoD intelligence information sharing on current and emerging global threats to mission and coalition partners and emerging nations. With an internationally dispersed team supporting each combatant command, the US BICES-X team is in direct support of the war fighter and their missions. We are seeking a creative and driven professional with a passion for solving real world issues on a cross-functional, fast paced team. We are seeking a Systems Administrator that is able to work independently – please read below!
Responsibilities:
- Provides polite, professional, and responsive customer service.
- Provides follow-up actions with customers to ensure resolution of incidents or requests.
- Manages the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systems.
- Maintains the integrity and security of systems.
- As required, supports users with completing requests for deployment of new services.
- Maintains system documentation.
- Provides desk side support to users and evaluates vendor products.
- Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery.
- Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
- Provides advice and training to end-users.
- Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
- Participates in special projects as required.
- Adheres to the principles, methods, and techniques used in network administration and support.
- Maintains/enhances knowledge of related hardware and software.
- Maintains an organization's computer systems' workflows and is responsible for the upkeep, configuration and reliable operation of computer systems, including fixing network issues along with updating equipment and software.
- Creates and administers profiles and accounts and maintains systems documentation.
- Tunes system performance for optimal conditions.
- Installs system-wide software.
- May require professional certification in one or more specific technologies, depending on job assignment.
- Will occasionally be required to perform networks, DTS, information assurance and logistics duties.
- May be required to work outside of “normal” work hours to include weekends and holidays.
- May be required to support operations in austere and/or remote locations.
Required Qualifications:
- Must achieve and maintain the Technical Expert Status Accreditation (TESA) as defined in the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) between the United States and the Federal Republic of Germany. In order to qualify for TESA, the candidate must have one of the following: Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of specialized experience, OR; an Associate's degree plus 7 years of specialized experience, OR; A major certification plus 7 years of specialized experience, OR; 11 years of specialized experience
- 3+ years of Systems Administration experience required.
- BA/BS degree – may substitute additional years of experience
- Must possess and maintain a TS/SCI Clearance.
- Must meet DoD 8570 requirements and be eligible for IAT level II (Security+ or equivalent) access.
- Must have solid understanding of common IT infrastructure services to include DNS, DHCP, and troubleshooting network connectivity issues, printers, and etc.
- Must be able to occasionally lift heavy items, e.g. HP printers, Dell servers, monitors, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting military and multinational customers preferred.
- Experience with user, administrative and service account creation and management.
- Experience with direct customer support for both internal and external customers.
- Experience with implementing and maintaining systems documentation.
- Experience with developing training for both internal and external customers.
- Experience with managing, monitoring and responding to key server infrastructure alerts.
- Experience with ServiceNow, SCCM, Active Directory, DHCP, Print Server, and related Microsoft technologies.
- Experience with VMWare, Horizon View, and other virtualization technologies a plus.
- Experience with configuring and troubleshooting thin clients.
- ITIL Foundations v4 certification preferred.
