Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking an experienced Data Analytics / Data Scientist candidate to become part of Peraton’s Federal Strategic Cyber OU,  providing leading cyber and technology security experience to enable innovative, effective and secure business processes.

 

Location: located in Arlington, VA. 

 

In this role, you will:

  • Perform extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various database systems and potentially Databricks to support Power BI reporting.
  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive and visually compelling dashboards and reports primarily using Power BI.
  • Develop and maintain Python scripts to automate data processing, analysis tasks, and data integration, potentially leveraging Databricks.
  • Contribute to the ongoing Tableau project by maintaining and potentially enhancing existing dashboards and reports.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their data and reporting needs, translating them into effective Power BI solutions.
  • Explore opportunities to automate manual workflows using Power Automate, integrating data insights into streamlined processes.
  • Communicate analytical findings and recommendations clearly and concisely through Power BI dashboards and presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of data models optimized for Power BI performance, potentially utilizing data processed in Databricks.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest features and best practices in Power BI, Power Automate, and Databricks.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 9 years’ of relevant experience; 7 years with Masters; 4 years with PhD.
    • An additional 4 years of experience may be substituted in lieu of the degree requirement.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • Possess one of the following certifications:
    • CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CEH, CFR, CHFI, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), Cloud+, CND, CySA+, GCED, GCIH, GICSP, or SSCP
  • 1-5 years of demonstrated experience specifically in a Data Analyst or similar analytical role with a strong focus on data visualization.
  • Proven ability to design and develop impactful dashboards and reports using Power BI.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling concepts and experience optimizing data for Power BI.
  • Experience writing and executing SQL queries to extract and manipulate data from databases.
  • Hands-on experience with Python for data analysis and automation (e.g., Pandas, NumPy).
  • Familiarity with Tableau for data visualization and reporting is highly desirable, particularly experience maintaining existing dashboards.
  • Experience with Power Automate or other workflow automation tools is a significant advantage.
  • Demonstrated excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience.  
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a dynamic setting.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • An Active Secret security clearance to start
    • Additional ability to obtain a final Top Secret security clearance.

Preferred qualifications: 

  • Experience providing analytics solutions to detect anomalous activity is a plus.
  • Experience working with Databricks for data processing, transformation, and analysis. 
  • Experience in building predictive models using Python and relevant statistical/machine learning techniques is a strong preference. 
  • Possession of a Security+ certification.

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
