Firewall Analyst II

Summary of This Role

Install, configure, maintain, support, and secure the organization's network communications, including LANs and/or WANs. Identifies network and firewall problems, isolates root causes, and initiates corrective action. Determines priority of action and additional resources required, based on severity of service interruption. Provides technical analysis to all customers to isolate issues and develop strategies to restore or activate services. Interacts with network activities. Ascertains compliance with security, safety, and environmental guidelines. Generates reports on network performance, trouble-shooting results, and routine maintenance of network elements. This role requires individuals to work within the demands of a global 24x7 High availability transaction oriented network. Ability to translate business requirements into network requirements and collaboratively work with other technical teams to deliver an overall solution.

What Part Will You Play?

Assists with intermediate level Network problem solving solutions within the Global Payments Network

• Administers established Network project and issue resolution tasks

• Participates in the execution of intermediate design plans/scripts with attention to detail

• Provides timely updates to project managers and customers on the status of implementations and requests as needed

• Generates intermediate level reports on network performance, trouble-shooting results, and routine maintenance of network elements

• Configure, install and maintain firewalls

• Report on project and operational status by gathering and organizing information 

• Understand, design-for and support-of Checkpoint and Cisco ASA firewalls

• Understanding of, design-for and support-of routing protocols for WAN and LAN connectivity BGP and OSPF

• Off-hour support may be required for maintenance windows and / or trouble-shooting

• Troubleshoot production connectivity issues within the environment to resolution

• Create models to predict future firewall/network needs

• Update professional diagrams and documentation required to support environment  

What Are We Looking For in This Role?

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a computer science related field

• 5+ years of firewall engineering experience in multiple networking disciplines

• 2+ years networking in the financial technology industry  

• Relevant Experience or Degree in: Computer Science

Preferred Qualifications

• Appropriate advanced industry network certifications are preferred.

• Deep Platform Knowledge of: Checkpoint and Cisco ASA firewalls

• Checkpoint Certifications

• Can configure for Checkpoint and Cisco ASA firewalls

• Have some knowledge of LAN, WAN, VPN, SDN, MPLS, Internet, Data Center, Cloud-Solutions, Route, Switch, Load Balancer from multiple vendors or comparable Firewalls 

• Some Platform knowledge of:  F5, Cisco, DNA, SDA, NSX, Juniper

• Dynamic Routing - Configure industry standard dynamic routing protocols including but not limited to BGP and OSPF.

• WAN Optimization and QoS - WAN optimization and QoS on global MPLS network carrying voice and data.

• Load Balancing - Global DNS load balancing and local application load balancing.

• Ability to work US business day hours
