As a Staff Software Engineer – DevSecOps you main focus will be driving a DevSecOps first mindset and leading complex innovations across automated deployment solutions to ensure more efficiency on getting products out into production and in front of our customers. You are also responsible for the technical design, development, and rollout of key enhancements to our end-users to ensure that services are implemented so that solutions are resilient, secure and fit for purpose.

The CBA technology unit delivers the best digital banking services to Commonwealth Bank customers and to do so is responsible for digital delivery, group data and analytics, technology and technology infrastructure, cyber, fraud, physical security and business resilience for all divisions across CBA. It is also dedicated to delivering the best workplace technology experience for our over 53.000 people across CBA and focused on providing the latest tools, technology, and resources to enhance the way we work together and empower our people to achieve more for our customers.
This role will be part of DevSecOps COE team reporting to the Chapter Lead Engineering Practice and Enablement. This chapter sits in the Retail Technology Engineering Domain. This team is responsible for driving uplift in DevSecOps practices across Retail Tech. Our mission is to enable engineers build and deliver changes in our applications more quickly and efficiently without comprising on risk and quality concerns.
We do this by looking at ways to streamline and drive simplification in DevSecOps tooling, technologies, and processes across the group.
Retail Technology is responsible for the world-leading application of technology and operations across every aspect of CommBank - from innovative product platforms for our customers, to essential tools within our business.
We’re interested in hearing from people who:
Have a DevSecOps and application development background with a key focus in building mission critical automated deployment solutions using GitHub or Github Actions.
Are a strong technical leader with the ability to inspire an engaged a team of engineers fostering a culture of excellence, provide technical leadership and mentoring.
Have a proven track record in designing and delivering mission critical solutions across .NET .NET Core and or Java.
Are proficient in driving technical engineering, product strategies and or roadmaps across a complex technical ecosystem.
Understand the complexity and challenges in delivering scalable solutions in an enterprise setting.
Tech skills:
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to possess knowledge of them but experience or exposure with some of them or their equals will set you up for success in this team;
Expert in SDLC with a key focus in DevSecOps, automation and deployment including, design, implementation, integration, and technology transformations is essential.
DevSecOps: CI/CD tools (i.e. GitHub Action, TeamCity, Sonarqube, Artifactory, Octopus).
Promote DevOps culture of CI/CD pipelines and Automation supported by world-class tools.
DevSecOps: Security scanning tools – Checkmarx, Snyk are highly regarded.
Software: .Net Framework, Web API.
Strong scripting skills (using PowerShell, Python, Bash or similar language).
Excellent understanding of microservices architecture and API design patterns.
Cloud: Working knowledge of public cloud engineering – AWS preferred.
