Resolution Management Specialists are key components in the organization’s strategy to improve cyber and resilience preparedness and reduce risk. This new role is being established to ensure potential risk items identified through Tech & Cyber Exercises, Red Team activities, and resilience assessments are appropriately reviewed, assigned, routed, and escalated from the point of identification through to closure. This role will be responsible for logging, analyzing, interpreting, and redefining potential risk items, as well as identifying responsible parties, coordinating and tracking remediation efforts, and ensuring timely resolution. As such, project management skills, outstanding attention to detail, and the ability to problem solve at all levels within an organization are key components necessary for this position.
The Resolution Management Specialist should have a solid understanding of risk management, to include the ability to review potential risk items, and help risk owners in understanding the various methods of managing that risk. The potential risk items are the product of other people's work, so strong analytic and problem-solving skills are a must.
The potential risk items are frequently tied to regulatory requirements, so detail oriented administrative skills and the ability to track metrics and program milestones are essential. There is frequent interaction with personnel from all levels of the enterprise, to include managers and senior leaders.
The ideal candidate will have experience in technology risk management, or compliance, with strong organizational and communication skills. Applicants should have a proven track record of being able to navigate successfully across organizational lines, a foundation of cyber security knowledge and demonstrated performance at managing complex systems with technology solutions and optimized recommendations for how to do things better.
Role responsibilities include:
Capture and log potential risk items in a tracking system and maintain up-to-date records.
Grounding the items
Reviewing language to ensure that it's logical and aligns with SMART objective format.
Finding the appropriate responsible parties, to include risk Owners and Approvers. This often involves negotiating with stakeholders and frequent interaction with senior leaders.
Triage
Getting buy-in and concurrence on the potential risk item language.
Exploring if the item poses a risk to the bank, and work with Owner to assign a priority rating.
Determining if the item should be captured in a higher-level system of record.
Managing the potential risk item
Working with the risk owner to ensure that they develop an Action Plan in a timely manner.
Document stakeholder’s responses and corrective action plans for each item.
Monitor the status, and request updates when appropriate, of resolution efforts.
Documenting and reporting successes and roadblocks to technology leadership.
Close-out
Communicating with Owners to document that all items have been completed in the Action Plan.
Completion
Receive and archive evidence of Action Plan completion, including the written approval.
Closeout in the appropriate system of record once the entire lifecycle has been accomplished.
Generate reports on statuses and provide updates to TOR management.
Assist in developing and improving processes for tracking and closing potential risk items.
Ensure compliance with internal policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Depth & Scope:
Participates on complex, comprehensive or large projects and initiatives
Acts as a lead expert resource in technology controls / information security for project teams, the business / organization and/or outside vendors
Has advanced knowledge of organization, technology controls / security/ risk issues
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree preferred
Information security certification / accreditation an asset
7+ years of relevant experience
Expert knowledge of IT security and risk disciplines and practices
Preferred Qualifications :
5-10 years of experience in IT audit, technology risk management, compliance, or a related field.
Working knowledge of Power BI, Jira, and other data visualization tools.
Have a working understanding of information security, physical security, and business continuity concepts.
Experience with GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) tools.
Ability to analyze and interpret IT exercise finding and outputs, and as well as remediation plans.
Have a strong sense of teamwork that enables you to work with peers and various levels of management.
Effective written and oral communication skills in both group and individual settings.
Proven record of being able to navigate successfully across organizational lines.
Ability to track and communicate milestones and metrics for a variety of audiences in a variety of formats.
Have a foundational understanding of cyber and resilience exercise and test concepts used to evaluate staff skill levels, operational risk, and security effectiveness.
Deep knowledge of Power BI and other visualization tools, and the ability to craft custom reports will set you apart.
Bachelor's degree in Security or Technology Risk Management, Information Systems, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Certification such as CISA, CRISC, or equivalent are not mandatory, but a plus.
Strong familiarity with metrics and outcomes important to security risk management, meeting regulatory requirements, and executive level requests for information.
