Job Title: Communications Manager, Business and Incident Response

Work Place Flexibility: Onsite

Job Summary/Purpose

Hands-on team manager spending more than 75 percent of time serving as a Public Information Officer, leading the execution of the incident response communications strategy, internally and externally, in partnership with company, business and team leaders, and communications professionals. Coordinates, writes, edits and produces employee and external communications products in support of incident response activities. Other part of role is developing and executing an overarching national media communications strategy for the Entergy Nuclear fleet, including social media. Other company, business, team and industry projects as assigned.

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Public Information Officer during hurricanes, tornadoes and other storms, as well as incidents such as wildfires, ice events, load shed, summer and winter readiness, and others. Work as the PIO in partnership with other team members. Help lead year-round response planning, training and implementation for the communications department.
  • Develop and implement internal communications strategies for incident response leaders. Produce communications (print materials, employee articles, infographics, videos, huddles) in support of incident response efforts, in alignment with the goals of the company and business.
  • Develop overarching national media strategy for the nuclear fleet, as well as an incident response external communications strategy in collaboration with other team members. Partner with nuclear communications and operations communications managers to amplify team member, plant, fleet, and team successes.
  • Produce and execute a social media strategy for nuclear and incident response, leveraging the company’s social tools, as well as the nuclear X feed and Linked-In. Coordinate a “Meet the Pros” strategy for incident response and related businesses that can be highlighted internally and externally.
  • Incorporate Viva Engage communications strategy into all segments of incident response.
  • Will edit the work of and provide guidance and direction to other team members, as well as business and staff resources. Will require working as a strategic business partner and coach. May require project management knowledge including business processes such as budgeting, purchasing, request for proposal, etc.
  • Assists with the management of Entergy's graphic standards and market branding, including strategies, materials and communication plans to support and promote functional initiatives and projects. 
  • Monitor industry news about the corporation, the utility industry, incident response communications, the nuclear industry and individual facilities, and business trends.
  • Focus on talent development through regular performance discussions, quartelry check-ins, knowledge sharing and career/development opportunities. Create and sustain a culture of safety and provide a rewarding, engaging and empowering environment.
  • Engage in regular storytelling for both internal and external stakeholders by curating insightful stories that can be used at the corporate and operating company levels.

 

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required of the position:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or equivalent experience in manufacturing, utility, incident response or nuclear power communications.

 

Minimum experience required of the position:

  • 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in crisis communications planning and response, strategic and integrated communications planning, public speaking, positive storytelling that supports the strategy and brand, and cross-functional collaboration and consensus building.
  • Must be proficient in writing using Associated Pres style, familiarization with graphics software.  Must be a strong writer, presenter, photographer, videographer. Must work as a strategic coach and business advisor to multiple leaders and teams. Must be a positive leader, team player and be open to travel. Risk identification and mitigation planning that impact our stakeholder groups.
  • Some business travel required.
