Your Impact Starts Here. Peraton is seeking a Systems Engineer / Splunk Administrator to join our high-impact Cyber Mission team in Annapolis Junction, MD. In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of supporting a critical national security mission—delivering real-time visibility, actionable intelligence, and operational efficiency through an enhanced Splunk infrastructure.

 

What You’ll Do:

 

As a key member of our engineering team, you will take ownership of maintaining, upgrading, and optimizing a complex Splunk environment that supports enterprise-level cybersecurity operations. You will collaborate closely with government and contractor partners to ensure a robust and scalable solution that evolves with mission needs.

 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Maintain and optimize the existing Splunk Enterprise and Splunk Enterprise Security platforms

• Apply system upgrades and security patches to ensure reliability and compliance

• Troubleshoot logs and system issues, clearly communicating findings with technical teams

• Manage full-stack Splunk administration (OS and application level)

• Identify and resolve performance issues—bottlenecks, data flow problems, and integration hiccups

• Work directly with stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions

• Modernize and enhance the current Splunk environment through:

  • Architecture design and sizing

  • Ingestion strategy and data onboarding

  • Data modeling for advanced correlation

  • Custom dashboards and actionable visualizations

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

• Active TS/SCI security clearance with current polygraph required
• Twenty years' experience as a SE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity is required
• Demonstrated experience in planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts is required
• Bachelor’s degree in system engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required
• Five years of additional SE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree
• Hands on experience with Splunk

Target Salary Range

$190,000 - $304,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
