Location: Virginia Beach, VA at our wonderful G2 Ops office and customer site, NIWC LANT St. Julien’s Creek

Work Setting: In person, some remote opportunity, and/or flexible working hours, not a fully remote position

Salary Range: $115,000 - $150,000 plus benefits

Knowledge Requirements:

• Comprehensive understanding of C4ISR architectures and information-assurance principles
• Familiarity with DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) and accreditation processes - including preparing packages and securing Interim/Full Authorization to Operate, Interim Authority to Test, and Authority to Connect for classified and unclassified environments
• Hands-on experience performing system and network security analysis on NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and similar networks
• Knowledge of DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Technician (IAT) requirements
• Proficiency with key DoD cybersecurity tools and artifacts such as ACAS, HBSS, STIGs, SCAP, eMASS and POA&Ms

Years of Industry Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience

Security Clearance Requirement: Must be able to obtain and maintain Active DoD Secret Clearance

Let's talk salary. The annual salary range for this position is $115,000 and goes up to $150,000, based on your qualifications. We also offer a competitive benefits package and have fringe benefits offered throughout the year. The benefits package value ranges from $13,000 for a single employee, and up to $28,000 for an employee and their family. With company standard annual performance reviews in place, plus excellence awards for recognition, your performance will be rewarded and appreciated, we promise!

Due to the classification level of the projects we support, we are not able to offer fully remote opportunities at this time. As a Defense Contractor, we are frequently working with sensitive material, and therefore, we need to ensure where you access your work is secure.

You will have a shiny desk at our G2 Ops office but will primarily work at St. Julien’s Creek military site directly with our customers (this is a good thing!). We do allow some teleworking with prior approval, but supporting the DoD, you will be required to work at a military site as well.

Still not convinced? Allow us to elaborate. For this opportunity, we are seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented Information Systems Security Engineer. This exciting position will have the chance to work on just about any aspect there is as it pertains to cyber security governance, risk, and compliance.

What does this mean to you? We are seeking expertise in:

• Security‑controls analysis and Navy/DoD RMF Assessment & Authorization—building packages that secure IATO, ATO, IATT and ATC approvals.
• Risk assessments, mitigation planning and contingency‑plan development for C4ISR and cloud‑hosted systems spanning UNCLAS, SIPRNet and TS/SCI networks.
• Vulnerability scanning, STIG auditing and remediation with Nessus/ACAS, SCAP, HBSS and STIG Viewer, with POA&M tracking in eMASS.
• Secure‑cloud execution and MBSE‑driven architecture hardening (AWS GovCloud, Azure IL5+ using SysML/digital twins).
• Cybersecurity‑policy development, review and implementation, plus continuous‑monitoring dashboard creation.
• System analysis, design, integration and security test & evaluation with deep knowledge of application ports, protocols and services.
• Delivery of DoD 8570.01‑M IAT Level III functions—including patch management, incident response and audit reporting.

Lastly, as we are working for the DoD, we are beholden to some requirements. The ideal candidate would already possess an active DoD Secret level clearance and Information Assurance Technical II certification like Security +.
