Position Description

Serco is seeking a Principal Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to join our team at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) in Washington. This role will serve as the lead coordinator for the Mission Training Complex’s (MTC) risk management framework (RMF) program. The position is contingent upon contract award, budget, and customer approval.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Maintain and document the appropriate operational security posture for MTC information systems.
  • Define and implement standard operating procedures in accordance with DoD, Army, and MTC policies.
  • Create and manage Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&M) to address vulnerabilities from audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure successful implementation and operation of IT security requirements and policies consistent with the mission and goals of the organization.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 9 years of DoD cybersecurity operations experience; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity or related field with 5 years of experience; OR
  • Master’s degree in cybersecurity or related field with 3 years of experience.
  • Meet one of the following:
    • DoD 8570.01-M Baseline CE Certification Requirements at IAM Level II
    • Minimum DoD 8140 DCWF requirements for Work Role 722 (Information Systems Security Manager - Advanced)
  • Expert knowledge of NIST, DoD, and Army cybersecurity and RMF processes and best practices.
  • Experience with IT security assessment, monitoring, detection, and remediation tools and standards-based procedures.
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery and continuity of operations plans.
  • Understanding of enterprise incident response programs and network security architecture.
  • Knowledge of vulnerabilities, system performance indicators, and systems lifecycle management.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to brief senior leaders in non-technical terms.
  • Active U.S. DoD TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Ability to work on-site at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Strong leadership and coordination skills in cybersecurity risk management.
  • Depth of knowledge across military and government IT security standards.
  • Ability to develop clear documentation and communicate technical details effectively.
  • Experience applying systems engineering and lifecycle management principles.

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • At least 3 years of experience working in MTC environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience assessing and mitigating risk for systems used in Live, Virtual, Constructive (LVC) and integrated training environments with simulations that stimulate Army C2 systems and MCIS.
