Position Description
Serco is seeking an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to support the Mission Training Complex (MTC) at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) in Washington. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the cybersecurity posture and compliance of MTC systems within the Risk Management Framework (RMF), ensuring all activities align with DoD, Army, and site-specific security policies.
In this role, you will:
- Maintain and document the operational security posture for MTC information systems.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures consistent with DoD, Army, and MTC cybersecurity policy.
- Create and manage Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) in response to audit and assessment findings.
- Support the successful implementation and functionality of IT security requirements in alignment with the mission and operational goals.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- One of the following:
- High school diploma or GED with 6 years of DoD cybersecurity operations experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity or related field with 2 years of DoD cybersecurity experience.
- Master’s degree in cybersecurity or related field.
- One of the following:
- Must meet DoD 8570.01-M IAM Level II certification requirements.
- Must meet DoD 8140 DCWF requirements for Work Role 722 (Advanced).
- Expert understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, including NIST, DoD, and Army RMF policies and standards.
- Proficiency in risk evaluation, network security architecture, performance monitoring, and incident response.
- Skilled in server administration, systems engineering, and security resilience assessment.
- Strong verbal communication and ability to brief senior military leaders in layman’s terms.
- Active DoD TS/SCI clearance.
- Must be able to work onsite at JBLM in Washington and travel up to 10% as needed.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A deep understanding of cybersecurity operations and RMF compliance processes.
- Proven experience in security system implementation, documentation, and incident handling.
- Ability to translate technical cybersecurity principles into practical, mission-aligned solutions.
Additional desired experience and skills:
- 3+ years of experience working in Mission Training Complexes (MTCs).
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity or related field.
- 5+ years of experience assessing and mitigating risk in Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) and integrated training environments involving Army C2 Systems and MCIS.
