Job Description

NetImpact Strategies is seeking a highly skilled .NET Framework Upgrade Expert to lead and execute the modernization of legacy .NET applications. This role requires deep technical knowledge of the .NET Framework and its transition to more modern, maintainable platforms such as .NET Core or .NET 6/7+. The ideal candidate will be capable of evaluating existing systems, identifying upgrade paths, mitigating compatibility issues, and implementing best practices for security, performance, and scalability.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assess existing .NET Framework applications to determine upgrade feasibility and complexity.
  • Develop and execute migration strategies from legacy .NET versions to modern .NET platforms (e.g., .NET Core or .NET 6/7+).
  • Refactor or redesign application components to align with new architecture and technology standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including DevOps, QA, and cybersecurity to ensure seamless integration and deployment.
  • Address security vulnerabilities and performance issues as part of the upgrade process.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for the upgrade process, configuration changes, and application modifications.
  • Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior developers and other stakeholders involved in the project.
  • Conduct testing and validation to ensure successful upgrade and full functionality post-migration.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience with Microsoft .NET Framework, .NET Core, and modern .NET versions.
  • Proven expertise in upgrading and modernizing .NET applications in enterprise environments.
  • Strong understanding of Windows services, IIS, and related Microsoft infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in C#, ASP.NET (Web Forms and MVC), Entity Framework, and SQL Server.
  • Experience with code analysis tools and techniques for identifying deprecated or incompatible code.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and version control systems like Azure DevOps or Git.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently on complex technical challenges.
  • U.S. Citizenship required; must be able to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience migrating applications to Azure or other cloud platforms.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and RESTful API design.
  • Previous federal consulting experience.
