As a Director within our Technology Risk team, you will help our clients identify and manage their technology risks whilst simultaneously gaining skills to develop a career in a fast growing professional services organisation. Working with some of the world’s most prestigious Financial Service (FS) organisations you will be an integral part of our Technology Risk team, part of Assurance Advisory within EY UK.
The opportunity
The rapid evolution of technology and the associated risks regularly make headline news. The potential financial and reputational impact from threats ranging from external cyber-attacks to internal rogue trading and high-profile data losses makes the need for technology assurance a Board-level concern. As a Director, you will be a key leader within our FS Technology Risk team, driving strategic initiatives and overseeing a range of complex projects, including IT Governance, Risk and Controls, IT Internal Audit, IT components of Regulatory Reviews, and Emerging Technology Risk, including AI. You will collaborate with some of the world’s most prestigious Financial Services (FS) organizations.
Your Key Responsibilities:
In your role as a Director, you will:
- Establish, maintain, and strengthen strategic internal and external relationships, acting as a trusted advisor to clients and stakeholders.
- Lead and mentor a diverse team, fostering a positive learning culture and supporting the professional development of junior team members.
- Ensure exceptional client service and quality delivery, while managing the overall performance of engagements to meet time and cost budgets.
- Drive business development activities, identifying opportunities for growth and innovation within the practice.
- Stay ahead of the curve by monitoring and analyzing the latest technology and regulatory trends, including AI, cloud, and robotics, and integrating these insights into client solutions.
- Contribute to industry research and thought leadership, positioning the firm as a leader in FS Technology Risk.

- Proven ability to manage and enhance excellent client relationships at a senior level.
- Track record of delivering high-quality outcomes and deliverables, with a strong attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships across the business
- Strong leadership skills to develop high performing teams and promote a collaborative and inclusive culture
- Experience in leading business development initiatives and contributing to the growth of the practice.
- Financial Services industry knowledge and in depth knowledge of latest trends in IT Risk including regulatory and technological advances
To Qualify for the Role You Must Have:
- A minimum of 10-12 years IT Governance, Risk and Controls, or audit experience. Ideally within a professional services consulting role or a dynamic technology risk or audit function within a major financial institution or blue-chip industry firm.
- Deep knowledge of the FS industry and a comprehensive understanding of the FS technology landscape.
- Thorough understanding of the UK and EMEIA FS regulatory environment and its implications for technology risk.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills, with experience engaging with C-suite executives and senior stakeholders.
- Proven experience managing the delivery of complex, end-to-end client engagements/projects.
- Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong capability to manage multiple stakeholder communities with varying levels of experience.
- A keen interest in or experience with Artificial Intelligence and its application in the FS sector.
- A demonstrated track record in establishing and leading high-performance teams, with a focus on coaching and developing individual team members.
Ideally, You’ll Also Have:
- Relevant industry certifications such as CISA, CISSP, CISM, CGEIT, ITIL, PMP, PRINCE2, or other specialized IT certifications.
- Knowledge of IT governance standards and frameworks, such as COBIT, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, and NIST.
- A comprehensive understanding of the IT landscape of major clients, including their adoption of cloud, AI, and Robotic Process Automation, with the ability to assure and advise on associated risks.
