Key Responsibilities

DevOps Architecture and Strategy    

o    Design and implement the overall DevOps architecture for software-defined radio platforms
o    Develop and maintain the strategic roadmap for DevOps practices and tooling
o    Establish best practices for continuous integration, delivery, and deployment
o    Architect scalable and secure infrastructure for SDR development and testing environments
 

CI/CD Pipeline Development  

o    Build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines for SDR software components
o    Implement automated testing frameworks for software and firmware validation
o    Develop deployment strategies that ensure minimal downtime and maximum reliability
o    Create automated processes for building, testing, and deploying SDR software packages
 

Infrastructure Management    

o    Design and implement infrastructure as code for consistent environment provisioning
o    Manage containerization and orchestration platforms for microservices architecture
o    Optimize infrastructure for performance, reliability, and security
o    Implement disaster recovery and business continuity solutions
 

Security Implementation    

o    Integrate security practices throughout the development lifecycle (DevSecOps)
o    Implement secure coding practices and automated security scanning
o    Ensure compliance with defence sector security requirements and standards
o    Collaborate with security teams to address vulnerabilities and implement mitigations
 

Monitoring and Observability    

o    Implement comprehensive monitoring solutions for SDR systems and infrastructure
o    Develop dashboards and alerting systems for system health and performance
o    Create observability frameworks for troubleshooting complex distributed systems
o    Establish metrics and KPIs for measuring system reliability and performance
 

Team Leadership and Collaboration    

o    Lead and mentor DevOps engineers and infrastructure teams
o    Collaborate with software development, hardware engineering, and QA teams
o    Work closely with product management to align infrastructure with product roadmap
o    Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
 

Process Improvement    

o    Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and quality
o    Conduct post-incident reviews and implement remediation measures
o    Optimize resource utilization and cost management
o    Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in DevOps and SDR
 

Documentation and Knowledge Management    

o    Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for infrastructure and processes
o    Develop runbooks and standard operating procedures for operations teams
o    Establish knowledge sharing practices within and across teams
o    Contribute to technical specifications and architecture documents
 

Research and Innovation    

o    Research and evaluate new tools and technologies for potential adoption
o    Prototype innovative solutions for SDR-specific DevOps challenges
 

Compliance and Governance    

o    Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations
o    Implement governance frameworks for infrastructure and deployment processes
o    Collaborate with compliance teams on audit preparation and remediation
o    Maintain documentation required for certification and accreditation processes
 

Education and Minimum Qualifications

•    Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field
•    Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field with focus on wireless communications, embedded systems, or cybersecurity
•    Desired: Advanced coursework or research in software-defined radio technologies, signal processing, or wireless communications systems
•    Minimum 8+ years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure engineering, or similar roles
•    Minimum 5+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools
•    Minimum 4+ years of experience in wireless communication 
•    Demonstrated experience with software-defined radio platforms or wireless communication systems
•    Experience implementing DevSecOps practices in highly regulated environments
•    Experience with containerization technologies and orchestration platforms (Docker, Kubernetes)
•    Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or similar)
•    Experience with cloud platforms (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, etc.) and on-premises infrastructure
•    Experience with monitoring and observability tools for complex distributed systems
•    Experience with secure software development practices and security compliance frameworks (NIST, RMF, etc.)
 

Key Skills

•    Technical Skills:
o    Expert knowledge of DevOps principles, practices, and toolchains
o    Strong understanding of software-defined radio architectures and technologies
o    Proficiency in scripting and programming languages (Python, Bash, Go, etc.)
o    Advanced knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems and administration
o    Experience with version control systems (Git) and branching strategies
o    Expertise in automated testing frameworks and continuous integration tools
o    Knowledge of network protocols and wireless communication standards
o    Understanding of signal processing concepts and digital communication systems
o    Familiarity with embedded systems and hardware interfaces for SDR
o    Experience with cybersecurity tools and practices for secure communications
•    Soft Skills:

o    Strong leadership and team management capabilities

o    AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or equivalent cloud certifications
o    Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)
o    Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
o    Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)
o    DoD 8570 IAT Level III or IAM Level III compliance
o    Security+ or equivalent security certifications
o    Project Management Professional (PMP) or Agile certifications (SAFe, Scrum)
