We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Director of Compliance (Cannabis) to lead and manage all compliance functions across our cultivation, processing, retail, and distribution operations in Michigan. This leader will serve as the key liaison with state regulatory bodies, including the Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA), and will develop and oversee policies and programs to ensure Dacut operates within all applicable laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage company-wide cannabis compliance strategies in accordance with Michigan Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA) requirements.
  • Assists with the creation and/or development of internal policies, SOPs, and training programs to ensure operational compliance across cultivation, processing, and retail.
  • Conduct regular internal audits and inspections to identify and address compliance risks or violations; assists with inventory reconciliations and data integrity across all sites.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes in Michigan cannabis laws and provide strategic guidance to executive leadership on potential impacts.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with regulatory agencies; prepare for and manage all inspections, audits, and reporting obligations.
  • Manage, monitor, and ensure accuracy of compliance-related systems such as METRC.
  • Provide training and support to operational leaders and staff to reinforce a culture of compliance throughout the organization.
  • Lead incident response investigations related to compliance issues and oversee corrective action plans.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as HR, Operations, and Security to ensure comprehensive compliance practices.
  • Prepare and submit all necessary state and local license applications, renewals, and amendments.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent number of years hands-on experience in the cannabis and/or related industry. 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in cannabis compliance, regulatory affairs, or a related industry (regulated consumer products, pharma, etc.).
  • Expert understanding of Michigan cannabis laws, CRA rules, and METRC compliance.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to drive operational compliance in a multi-site environment.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving landscape.
