Overview

Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Architecture, the Enterprise Architect is a trusted champion of change and strategic technology leader, integrated across all domains of IT and aligned with business strategy on a continuous, evolutionary basis. The Enterprise Architect establishes architectural principles, standards, processes and bridges business strategy with technology innovation.

 

The Enterprise Architect is responsible for introducing and influencing the adoption of modern architecture solutions, as well as maintaining consistency and adherence to current/existing architecture patterns. They are instrumental in ensuring architectural integrity and agility through a culture of experimentation, cross-functional alignment including with vendors, and acute awareness of IT infrastructure and software development lifecycles including through to end of life.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a cross-functional technology strategist and transformation leader between the Information Technology organization and all other departments
  • Facilitates modern business architecture development and produces traceability between technology strategy and business architecture
  • Establishes and evolves an enterprise-wide architecture governance framework to drive standardized alignment and facilitate decision-making
  • Formulates high-level technology strategies and patterns to meet current and future business needs
  • Works closely with executives, management and subject matter experts to translate complex technical realities
  • Works alongside and guides application development and IT operations teams to create performant, reliable business applications, systems and processes.
  • Identifies significant market and technology trends, assessing current and future technology opportunities for the Company
  • Guide the technology onboarding and retirement lifecycle, ensuring sustainable adoption and appropriate decommissioning of legacy systems in a phased, cost-effective manner
  • Lead and champion proofs of concept and pilot efforts in high-impact, high-risk areas
  • Optimizes scope and capability of technology components

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent combination of post-secondary education and experience (Master’s highly preferred).
  • 15+ years’ experience in an IT technology-related field, with at least 5 years’ in an enterprise, solution, or platform architect role.
  • Demonstrable experience in technical leadership and change management within large organizations, including on modernizing legacy systems and designing new-to-the-business architectural paradigms.
  • Professional certifications in architectural frameworks and advanced-level cloud, networking, or systems certifications a plus (e.g. AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure, ITIL, CISSP).
  • Experienced in enabling large-scale digital transformation or architecture modernization efforts.
  • Deep knowledge of systems architecture strategy development, governance models, and demonstrated success in adopting innovation.
  • Experience across a variety of modern architectural domains (e.g. service-oriented architectures, domain-driven design, SaaS integration, event-driven architecture, container orchestration).
  • Familiarity with governance and security frameworks in the technology and finance industries (e.g. PCI-DSS, SOC 2 Type 2, zero-trust security)
