Sr Manager, Compliance

Purpose of role:  The Corporate Compliance Senior Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of effective corporate policies, systems and personnel designed to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and policies.  The Compliance Senior Manager will maintain and continually refine an effective healthcare compliance program, including policies, procedures, systems, training and monitoring to identify, prevent, detect and correct activities that may violate company policies or applicable laws, regulations, and requirements. Supports the business and operational functions by providing guidance and support for the development, implementation and maintenance of the organization’s Ethics & Compliance program in accordance with Advanced Bionics and Sonova policies and applicable laws and regulations.

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Supports the efforts to continuously maintain and enhance an effective Ethics & Compliance.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and practices designed to ensure compliance with applicable policies, laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Perform annual federal and state transparency reporting, including gathering and analyzing reportable data, formatting reports and submitting to government databases and responding to disputes
  • Partner with the Privacy Team to support local stakeholders in the development, implementation and maintenance of the organization’s data privacy & protection program, including HIPAA policies and procedures where applicable.
  • Assess relevant risks (legal compliance with healthcare laws and regulations and FDA requirements, privacy, data protection, information security) in order to provide advice and consulting to the executive management and business heads on pro-actively addressing and mitigating the risks.
  • Ensure local Ethics & Compliance policies (where required) are aligned with governmental regulations and best practices, as well as with global policies.
  • Develop and deliver workforce training regarding Ethics & Compliance (including fraud and abuse prevention, healthcare compliance) concepts.
  • Work closely with key department leaders in the development and implementation of key compliance controls.
  • Coordinate and/or perform internal compliance review and monitoring activities.
  • Oversee the investigation,  follow-up and resolution of matters related to potential ethics & compliance issues, including potential issues regarding compliance with AB compliance policies, healthcare laws and regulations, and/or FDA requirements.
  • As subject matter expert, keep abreast of applicable regulatory matters, interpret and disseminate to top management information relevant to operations and strategic initiatives.
  • Regularly report to all local and Group leadership with respect to activities under the ethics & compliance
  • Providing hands-on subject matter expertise in healthcare ethics and compliance issues to AB business
  • Other duties as assigned
  • 10%Travel 

 

Education and Skillset:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Healthcare Management or Legal background
  • CCEP, CHC similar compliance or risk management certification; CIPP/US certification
  • 7+ years’ relevant experience in compliance in the life sciences industry, including leadership position(s) in the compliance function
  • Experience training staff on the importance and meaning of healthcare compliance and data protection concepts
  • Sound knowledge of intracompany rules and relevant local legal and regulatory landscape
  • Extensive knowledge of healthcare fraud and abuse laws, applicable data privacy & protection standards including HIPAA
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrates a growth mindset and adaptability to changing business needs.
  • Results-oriented; works productively on cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with staff, top management and internal/external legal counsel
  • Strong Microsoft office skills
  • SAP, Data analysis tools nice to have

A minimum of 200Mb/sec download and 10Mb/sec upload speed internet connectivity is required to support any remote/hybrid employee functionality at Sonova
