Software Engineer – Hybrid - CONTINGENT - 25-011
AUSGAR Technologies has an exciting, NEW, hybrid opportunity for a Software Engineer to join our team of smart and innovative technical team members working at NIWC PAC - Seaside in San Diego, California.
Will support ICADS (AN/URC-148(V)), a Chief of Naval Operations (CNO)-directed mission critical system which provides limited back-up and mobile communications capability for large deck naval platforms. Software team employs an Agile Scrum process to rapidly design, code and integrate capabilities into a mature Platform as a Service (PaaS) solution. Work includes developing and integrating applications that provision loosely coupled systems and capabilities, which can be reused, discovered and linked to build mission threads. DevSecOps and operations responsibilities also apply. The team uses government furnished DevSecOps tool suites (Atlassian products, such as JIRA, Bitbucket and Confluence.) This position is specifically for a position on the Agile Core Services (ACS) Development Team.
Job Responsibilities:
- Participate in a highly collaborative team within an AGILE software development and integration environment.
- Assist with trouble tickets with the ability to create, update and close tickets, as well as track items to resolution (Confluence, JIRA).
- Integrate multi-functional applications into container-based support services.
- Write well designed, testable and efficient code that meets technical requirements.
- Assist in the troubleshooting of code defects and deployment of timely fixes.
- Document code utilizing government-identified configuration management tools.
- Deploy, install and troubleshoot software at the Fleet and Navy test facilities. Findings related to troubleshooting software code issues will be reported.
- Review and provide feedback on project technical documentation pertinent to Fleet.
- Design, implement, develop and integrate software that powers infrastructure services to support data mediation, orchestration and machine-to-machine messaging.
- Plan, design, integrate and test software, network and/or hardware products from initial specifications to final rollout and maintenance.
- Effectively mentor and knowledge share with more junior team members.
- Lead a subset of the engineering team by directing tasking and managing requirements.
Requirements

- Must have an active DoD Top Secret Security Clearance, with SCI eligibility.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university and eight plus years’ experience in a software engineering role or the equivalent combination of education, technical training or work/military experience.
- At least two years of experience with technologies like, Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, Kubernetes, Docker, Helm and/or other container orchestration platforms.
- A minimum of DoD Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification is required for this position.
- Experience with Virtual Machines (VMWare etc.), Amazon Web Services (AWS), Containers, Ansible and Python.
- Experience with troubleshooting complex operating systems and networks in a RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environment.
- Experience demonstrating competencies including researching, analyzing, installing and testing software updates, patches and hotfixes.
- Experience troubleshooting software code issues and reporting on findings.
- Ability to work individually and on team projects in an environment of teamwork and cooperation.
- Effective team player with highly proficient customer service skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of business users and management.
- Excellent written, oral and presentation skills.
- May be asked to support the ACS Operations Team, supporting installations and system maintenance ranging from locally to internationally at labs, naval shore sites and onboard naval vessels.
- This position may require travel from San Diego to CONUS and OCONUS locations.
- The expected travel requirement is approximately four weeks per year (10%).
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with DNS, LDAP, PKI and other infrastructure services.
- Exposure to working with DISA, NIST, or STIG security guidelines and how to adhere to them.
Salary Range: $120K-140K
An essential qualification for this position is having a security clearance issued by the Federal Government, which may require successful completion of a background check.
