Security Engineering Manager (Security Architecture)

You are a strong technical leader who isn't afraid to roll up your sleeves when needed. You bring deep experience designing secure systems and cloud environments and know how to embed security into products without getting in the way of innovation. You understand when to coach, when to lead, and when to step in and build something yourself. You enjoy collaborating with engineers and business leaders, and you know how to make security an enabler rather than a blocker. 

In this role, you’ll help define our product and cloud security strategy while directly contributing to the design and security of systems that power our business. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO 

• Develop and drive the vision for product and cloud security architecture 

• Build, coach, and mentor a small team of security architects or engineers 

• Set and maintain secure architecture standards, frameworks, and best practices 

• Advocate for security across the organization, presenting architecture decisions clearly to engineering and product 

• Help establish a security architecture review process, embedding security early into product and infrastructure design 

• Lead and perform technical threat modeling, architecture reviews, and security design assessments 

• Architect cloud security solutions for services built on AWS and GCP 

• Help design security for APIs, microservices, serverless functions, containerized environments, and CI/CD pipelines 

• Build cloud security reference architectures and reusable security components 

• Participate directly in code reviews, design discussions, and incident investigations 

• Work hand-in-hand with cross functional stakeholders to ensure security is baked into everything we build 

• Partner with GRC and Compliance teams to meet regulatory obligations through strong architectural controls 

• Create a scalable security architecture engagement model for internal teams 

• Track metrics and demonstrate the impact of security architecture initiatives to leadership 

• Be a humble member of our team 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED: 

• 8+ years of experience in security architecture roles, including at least 2 years leading or mentoring technical team 

• 2+ years of experience building secure cloud architectures (AWS, and/or GCP) 

• 2+ years of experience building developer first product security program 

• Practical experience with architecture risk analysis, threat modeling, and secure design reviews 

• Deep technical knowledge of securing AWS and/or GCP cloud platforms 

• Experience integrating security into modern DevOps environments, CI/CD and secure development lifecycle practices 

• Ability to write code and scripts to automate, test, or deploy security solutions (Python, Go, Bash, etc.) 

• Ability to clearly translate technical details to non-technical stakeholders 

• Strong organizational habits and attention to detail 

• Ability to manage competing priorities and timelines without dropping the ball 

• Comfortable working independently, but collaborative when it counts 

• Strong risk management mindset with experience facilitating risk assessments and mitigation strategies
