About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Risk and Compliance Engineering Lead to join our global Integrated Governance Solutions team. In this pivotal role, you will serve as both a hands-on engineering leader and a strategic advisor, driving innovation in security, controls, and compliance engineering across Wells Fargo’s Workplace Technology environments.

You will lead the development and scaling of secure-by-design and controls-by-design practices, collaborating closely with engineering, architecture, and risk teams. Your efforts will ensure the delivery of secure, resilient, and compliant technology platforms that underpin the firm’s most critical business capabilities.

In this role, you will:

  • Coach and develop a community of engineers by fostering deep technical expertise in security design, secure development, and platform resilience, shaping a high-performance culture focused on continuous learning, innovation, and technical excellence across platform security disciplines.
  • Ensure adherence to enterprise architecture and information security standards, embedding non-functional requirements such as security, availability, and compliance into every product release.
  • Partner with and influence architects, engineering leaders, and enterprise teams to adopt next-generation platform security strategies, including application modernization, zero-trust architecture, cloud readiness, and data protection initiatives.
  • Identify and resolve deep technical security roadblocks across build, test, deployment, and runtime environments, while ensuring adherence to the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and DevSecOps practices.
  • Write and review high-quality code to demonstrate secure patterns, conduct threat modeling sessions, and lead technical design reviews to evaluate solution integrity and alignment with platform security strategy.
  • Interpret, develop, and enforce security policies and technical standards across application, cloud, and infrastructure environments, while actively managing technology and enterprise risk within moderately complex systems.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Owners, and delivery teams to influence secure product design, roadmap priorities, and compliance with internal and regulatory requirements, while advocating Agile and DevSecOps adoption.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in Engineering, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
  • Experience leading engineering teams in the delivery of secure, reliable, and scalable technology capabilities (e.g., Paved Road, Golden Path, etc.)
  • Deep expertise in application and infrastructure security with experience across AWS, Azure, GCP.
  • Hands-on experience with secure software development and architecture, including CI/CD pipelines, containers, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Strong programming skills in one or more languages (e.g., Java, Python, C++, Go, PowerShell).
  • Experience with legacy platform security and modern platform transformation strategies.
  • Familiarity with industry security frameworks such as NIST, MITRE ATT&CK, and compliance requirements including GDPR, FFIEC, and PCI.
  • Experience managing cyber risk and leading secure development in regulated industries (banking, telco, or healthcare preferred).

Desired Qualifications:

  • Recognised thought leadership through contributions to open-source projects, participation in standards bodies, or public speaking.
