Sr. Global Governance Manager, Legal/Compliance

The Senior Global Data Governance and Compliance Manager will lead the strategic development, implementation, and oversight of Choreograph’s data governance and compliance framework. This role ensures the integrity, security, and ethical use of data across the organization while driving alignment with global regulatory requirements and business objectives. The manager will spearhead data stewardship, risk mitigation, and compliance initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams to promote data literacy, enforce policies, and maintain Choreograph’s reputation for data excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Leadership
- Working with senior stakeholders, develop and execute a comprehensive data governance strategy aligned with organizational goals and risk appetite.
- Oversee the integration of AI, machine learning, and cloud-based solutions into data governance processes to enhance efficiency and scalability.
- Advise leadership on data governance strategies to support digital transformation, innovation, and competitive advantage.
- Maintain and enhance the data governance framework, including policies, standards, metrics, and best practices.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes to ensure proactive adaptation.
Policy & Compliance
- Working with the legal and privacy teams, input, implement, and maintain robust data governance policies and standards to ensure compliance with global and emerging regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, EU AI Act).
- Champion ethical data practices, ensuring alignment with environmental, social, and governance principles and consumer trust objectives.
- Oversee monitoring and enforcement of data governance policies through regular audits, reporting, and corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver training programs to ensure adherence to data governance and compliance requirements.
Data Stewardship & Collaboration
- Establish and lead a data stewardship program to promote accountability and data quality across business units.
- Collaborate with Legal, Security, Privacy, IT, and Cybersecurity teams to integrate governance practices into operational workflows.
- Drive data literacy and awareness initiatives to foster a data-driven culture.
- Facilitate data governance committees and working groups to align strategies and resolve issues.
- Partner with IT to implement and optimize data governance tools.
Risk Management & Monitoring
- Identify, assess, and mitigate data-related risks, including those associated with reseller models and client interactions.
- In collaboration with the legal and privacy teams, define and track KPIs to measure governance effectiveness, driving measurable outcomes such as risk reduction, compliance cost optimization, and operational efficiency.
- Conduct regular audits of data governance processes, controls, and reseller/client compliance practices.
- Prepare and present detailed reports on governance performance, risks, and compliance to senior leadership.
Reseller Vetting & Client Screening
- Oversee the development and execution of a comprehensive reseller vetting process aligned with Choreograph’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Analyse data usage patterns to detect anomalies, investigate potential misuse, and resolve compliance issues with stakeholders.
Reporting & Communication
- Communicate governance requirements, updates, and risks effectively to internal teams, resellers, and clients.
- Escalate significant risks or compliance issues to senior leadership with actionable recommendations.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Management, Data Science, Legal Studies, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Experience
- Experience in data governance, data management, or compliance, with some experience in a leadership role.
- Proven expertise in designing and implementing data governance frameworks, policies, and compliance monitoring processes.
- Deep expertise in global and emerging data protection regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and the EU AI Act.
- Experience with reseller vetting, client screening, contract compliance, and due diligence processes.
- Familiarity with advertising technology (AdTech), digital marketing, or related industries (highly desirable).
Skills
- Expertise in designing and implementing data governance frameworks, policies, and compliance monitoring processes.
- Familiarity with AI-driven data governance tools and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Snowflake).
- Proven ability to influence C-suite stakeholders and drive cross-functional alignment on data governance initiatives.
- Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Experience with leading data governance and due diligence platforms.
- Proficiency in data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Strong project management and organizational skills
