Chief Cyber Security Engineer

We have an opening for a full-time, permanent Chief Cyber Security Engineer to join our talented, dynamic team.    

As a Chief Cyber Security Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting the mission of the U.S. Department of the Treasury by leading technical design and engineering efforts across TSSSOC, optimizing SOC toolsets, automation, and detection capabilities in support of a unified cybersecurity framework.

This position will be required to work onsite 50% of the time in the DC Metro area, with site visits to Martinsburg, WV and Memphis, TN.

Duties

In this role, a typical day will include: 

• Leading architectural design, tool integration, and automation efforts across SOC environments (cloud, on-prem, hybrid). 
• Serving as the senior engineering authority on SOC platform design, optimization, and implementation. 
• Supporting technical coordination across engineering, operations, and threat and research teams. 
• Guiding the development of advanced detection logic, playbooks, and orchestrations. 
• Evaluating and recommending technologies to enhance SOC capabilities and performance. 
• Ensuring SOC systems meet federal security engineering standards and availability requirements. 

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field; Master’s preferred
• 10+ years of cybersecurity engineering experience, including 5+ years in SOC or enterprise security environments
• Relevant certifications: CISSP, GCIA, GDSA, AWS Certified Security – Specialty preferred
• Expertise in SOC tools and technologies (e.g., Splunk ES, Zeek, YARA, MISP, Snort, Nifi)
• Experience designing secure architectures and implementing automation in cloud and hybrid environments
• Active Secret clearance required; Top Secret eligibility required
