Engineering Manager - Defensive Cyber

As an Engineering Manager for Defensive Cyber, you will play a critical role in delivering airgap-native software with UDS into controlled Mission Environments. You will oversee the support of innovative solutions that meet customer needs and drive the success of our efforts to enhance National Defense. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and will need a deep understanding of modern software delivery in the tech industry and Department of Defense.

You will be responsible for guiding a team of talented DevOps and Platform Engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement while delivering high-quality, scalable, and secure products. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Product Engineering, is essential to ensure alignment with our company roadmap and customer requirements.

• Hold or be able to obtain a Top Secret security clearance.
• Familiarity with federal government contracts and different personas involved to deliver value.
• Lead, inspire, and manage a team of DevOps and Platform Engineers dedicated to supporting mission capabilities with UDS.
• Own the team's deliverables, ensuring the timely delivery of scalable, highly-available products that exceed customer expectations.
• Collaborate with Mission Heroes and Mission Managers to prioritize and manage Delivery roadmaps in alignment with Mission needs and timelines.
• Instill a spirit of continuous improvement in code quality, architecture, and processes, driving innovation and efficiency.
• Collaborate with Air Force Domain and Product to prioritize and manage requirements, roadmaps, and deliverables for the Mission Hero
• Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of team members, helping them advance their careers and achieve their goals.
• Stay abreast of new trends, developments, and technologies to continually improve product lines and production efficiency.
• Stay abreast of new DoD and Air Force memos, policies, and STIGs to continually provide value, improve product lines, and Mission Hero production efficiency.
• Fulfill our SLAs and provide the best support experience that our users have ever encountered.
• Follow company best practices in strategies for building Delivery solutions (ex. bundling pattern for Packages).
• Apply extensive experience with cloud native technology deployments, emphasizing secure coding practices and vulnerability remediation.
• Ensure all solutions are designed and implemented in accordance with DoD directives, security technical implementation guides (STIGs), and Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes.
• Contribute to coding, code reviews, and troubleshooting complex technical issues.

Travel Expectations/Requirements: 4 - 12 Times per year,  Local 2 - 4 Times per year

The listed responsibilities are not exhaustive and additional responsibilities may be assigned based on the evolving needs of the organization. We are seeking a dynamic individual who is able to adapt and take on new responsibilities as they arise. 

• 6+ years of experience, preferably in building, maintaining, and managing platforms and infrastructure.
• 2+ years of experience managing operationally oriented engineering teams, with experience in a remote, distributed environment.
• Strong understanding of Security Technical Implementation Guides for Operating Systems, Kubernetes, and Applications.
• Proficient at deploying Kubernetes and applications into complex environments such as Cloud One C1P, Azure, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
• Strong technical background in DevSecOps, with experience in architecting and delivering scalable solutions using cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, while deploying cloud-native software to Kubernetes.
• Deep knowledge in 1-2 key technologies, demonstrating proficiency in areas such as pipelines, GitOps, Kubernetes, Go, or others.
• Proficient with security automation and familiarity with API Security, Container Security, and Cloud Security.
• Proficient in architecture security design, monitoring, and performance instrumentation in a complex enterprise environment.
• Proficiency in DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, with a track record of inspiring and empowering teams.
• Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to communicate priorities effectively.
• Possess or ability to obtain a DoD 8570 IAT II or DoD 8410 compliant certification.
• Experienced in Department of Defense work, specifically working on a production Authority to Operate (ATO'd) system.
• Demonstrable experience working with and understanding DoD requirements, security protocols, and compliance frameworks (e.g., RMF, STIGs)

Salary Ranges: 
Engineering Manager: $147,175 - $180,500
Senior Engineering Manager: $171,000 - $208,000
