About the role:
As Principal Advisor – IAM, this role will lead the development and implementation of secure identity and access governance across the enterprise.
Working closely with IT, security, and business leaders, you’ll shape IAM strategy, drive policy adoption, and guide integration of applications with enterprise IAM platforms.
Acting as a trusted advisor, this role will provide expert insight on identity risks, regulatory compliance, and access controls to strengthen the organisation’s overall security posture.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead stakeholder engagement by advising on IAM best practices, collaborating with business and technical teams, and improving user experience and understanding of identity security risks.
- Develop and maintain IAM strategy, standards, and governance, ensuring alignment with enterprise security policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Design secure access management processes and policies, including role-based access control (RBAC), least privilege, identity lifecycle, and just-in-time access.
- Advise on IAM architecture and integration, supporting the adoption of authentication and authorisation protocols across enterprise applications.
- Support technology and engineering teams in evaluating IAM tools, privileged access management (PAM), and embedding IAM capabilities into systems and services.
- Ensure compliance and manage identity-related risks, supporting audits, documenting controls, and contributing to effective IAM governance frameworks.
- Promote knowledge sharing and training, maintaining documentation, developing learning materials, and building capability across IAM and security teams.
Skills & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Industry certifications such as CISSP or CISM with a focus on IAM or security governance. Strong knowledge of identity governance, authentication protocols (SAML, OAuth, OIDC), privileged access management (PAM), and access control models.
- Experience in regulatory compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, PCI-DSS, AESCSF, or relevant regional cybersecurity standards.
- Certifications specific to IAM, such as Certified Identity and Access Manager (CIAM), Microsoft SC-300 (Identity & Access Administrator), or Okta Certified Professional.
- Experience with IAM solutions such as Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Okta, SailPoint, CyberArk, Ping Identity, or equivalent enterprise platforms.
- Familiarity with zero trust security models, just-in-time access principles, and federated identity management.
