Let's introduce ourselves

At Volvo Cars Engineering (R&D), we’re empowering developers with unified, enhanced tools and streamlined workflows to drive continuous improvement.

We are expanding our Software Factory team in Gothenburg and Lund and looking for engineers of varying experience levels to join different teams within the area of Continuous Integration and Deployment, Configuration Management, Build Systems, DevSecOps and Test Automation. Whether you're an experienced specialist or an eager learner, you’ll play a crucial role in shaping our cutting-edge developer tools and infrastructure.

What you'll do

As a Developer in one of our Software Factory teams, you will:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable developer tooling and automation frameworks to enhance the productivity of a large developer community.
  • Optimize and ensure the reliability of CI/CD pipelines, reducing integration issues and improving overall software delivery efficiency.
  • Analyze and resolve bottlenecks in software workflows, proactively proposing solutions to enhance automation, scalability, and system performance.
  • Collaborate closely with development teams to understand pain points and implement solutions that streamline development workflows and improve code quality.
  • Champion best practices for software development, testing, deployment, and DevSecOps, ensuring high standards across the organization.

If you have extensive experience in one or more of these areas, there are opportunities to take on technical leadership roles, mentoring junior engineers, defining strategic roadmaps, and driving key architectural decisions.

What you'll bring

Our teams cover a range of focus areas, each contributing to a larger, impactful vision. Depending on your expertise and interests, you will have the opportunity to contribute to different aspects of our work, with teams emphasizing specific subsets of these skills. While not mandatory, the following skills and experiences can help you stand out and thrive in your role:

  • Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Zuul, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, Gerrit)
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and container technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)
  • Experience with Linux development environments
  • Experience working with software build systems, espescially Bazel and/or BuildBarn, and configuration management
  • Experience with SIL/HIL environments, simulations, test riggs, CANoe, MATLAB, Simulink, or TargetLink
  • Experience working with ISO 26262 Functional Safety standards
  • Experience with security best practices in software development and deployment (e.g. DevSecOps, SDLC, code-signing, cyber security)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Passion for improving developer productivity and automation
