As Edge Connectivity Senior Network Engineer, you will evolve our infrastructure in securing and improving Swiss Re's public network exposure on which Swiss Re relies centrally. The Network Connectivity Team is the focal point for all network activities across Swiss Re. We are responsible for network engineering and operations, within all network areas services (e.g. SD-WAN, Cloud Connectivity, Security Services, LAN & Wi-Fi, DDI, Load balancers) globally. We define and advance the company's network strategy. We're looking for an expert network engineer who is familiar with network concepts and practices. We operate the Swiss Re core IT infrastructure platforms connecting people with people as well as people with technology globally and.
Your main responsibilities are to:
- With a special focus on Security Service Edge, work on the deployment, and configuration of SSE solution, integrating SSE with the existing infrastructure in Swiss Re,
- Ensure SSE implementation meets security standards and compliance requirements.
- Work closely with managed service providers to ensure SLAs are met and issues are resolved promptly.
- Maintain and update network configurations, ensuring they align with best practices and security policies.
- Provide expert technical assistance for issues that cannot be resolved within operations and reviews product and integration architecture.
- Interact with the outsourcing partner(s) to ensure that they develop, validate, and support the solutions required by Swiss Re and meet Swiss Re security and networking standards)
- Provide technical guidance and training to junior network engineers
About the team
Edge & Connectivity Services is a newly formed area consisting of three teams (Cloudflare, Gateway Services and Connectivity Services) that address the challenges of hosting Swiss Re's public endpoints and the connectivity within the Swiss Re landscape. The teams deal with securing the edge, hosting gateways for APIs as well as data integration and are centrally responsible for connectivity across the Swiss Re backbone and for general addressability. This includes internal endpoints in both the private and the public clouds.

As SSE Senior Network Engineer, you are an experienced professional with a hands-on mentality and operational skills. In particular, you possess:
- 8+ years of engineering expert knowledge in an enterprise infrastructure environment with a deep understanding of cybersecurity, network security, Secure Service Edge, or SASE solutions.
- Broad technical background and understanding of an enterprise network and its challenges in global deployment.
- Working knowledge in the areas of Cloud Network services, VPNs, secure gateways, WAFs, DDI, CDN, SDWAN, LAN, firewalls, Internet breakouts/proxies and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
- Awareness of cyber threats and the importance of governed Internet breakouts/proxies
- Experience with implementation of connectivity automation technologies or connectivity optimization
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP Security, CISSP, CEH) are highly desirable.
- Ability to nurture a positive Engineering culture, client-oriented behaviour and can-do attitude
- Proficiency in scripting and automation tools is a plus (e.g., Python, Ansible).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
For Slovakia the base salary range for this position is between [EUR 3,800] and [EUR 6,300] per month (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:
- the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,
- the applicant’s own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.
