ADP is hiring a Sr. Director, Cloud Enablement
ADP is seeking a strategic Sr. Director, Cloud Enablement, to play a pivotal supporting role in the execution of ADP’s enterprise cloud strategy. This individual will work in close partnership with the VP of Cloud Services to help guide and enable cloud adoption and modernization initiatives across the organization. The role will collaborate with teams across ADP to drive innovation, efficiency, and improved customer experiences through effective cloud practices and technologies.
You will report to the VP of Cloud Services supporting the program’s, optimization, and operation of ADP’s Public cloud ecosystem, working alongside the cloud team to drive scalability, standardization, cost-effectiveness, and security. By advocating across the organization, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and overseeing vendor relationships, you will drive the adoption of cloud-based solutions that enable technology and business innovation and enhance the organization’s competitive edge.
You will be working alongside the VP of cloud services in, developing, and upskilling teams to support and sustain the transformation, while providing technical expertise and guidance to deliver ongoing success.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive cloud transformation strategy that leverages modern, enterprise-scale platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP, aligning initiatives with ADP’s organizational objectives and digital modernization goals.
- Drive organizational change by implementing targeted technical adoption strategies tailored to ADP’s cloud maturity and operational readiness.
- Help define and communicate a clear, technically grounded cloud vision focused on enhancing agility, scalability, and cost efficiency across the enterprise.
- Provide senior leadership with actionable insights based on hands-on cloud migration experience, enabling informed, technically sound investment decisions that drive strategic outcomes.
Cloud Architecture Modernization & Governance:
- Oversee the design and deployment of scalable, resilient, and secure cloud services and architectures across public, private, and hybrid models.
- Supervise the end-to-end migration of legacy applications using refactoring, replatforming, and containerization strategies for high performance and scalability.
- Promote the usage of infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) to build and manage cloud environments in a consistent, repeatable manner.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams to integrate cloud solutions into enterprise platforms, identifying opportunities for broader architectural and operational transformation.
- Drive robust cloud governance through policy-as-code frameworks and automated compliance tooling to uphold regulatory, security, and operational standards across regions.
- Make strategic architectural decisions regarding infrastructure consolidation, optimization workflows, and migration sequencing to maximize ROI while minimizing disruption.
- Optimize cloud usage and costs through effective monitoring, automation, and cost management practices.
Operational Excellence:
- Drive application and infrastructure migration projects using automation frameworks and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools to ensure secure, compliant, and low-downtime transitions.
- Lead the migration of applications, infrastructure, and data to the cloud, minimizing operational disruptions while maintaining strict adherence to security, compliance, and reliability standards.
- Embed agile methodologies and DevOps best practices into operational workflows, with a focus on continuous integration, continuous delivery (CI/CD), and site reliability engineering (SRE) principles.
- Oversee the implementation of comprehensive cloud governance frameworks, including enforceable policies, regulatory compliance controls, and standards for consistency across teams and environments.
- Establish and track performance metrics and KPIs to evaluate the effectiveness and maturity of cloud operations, enabling continuous improvement.
- Mitigate cloud risks through proactive threat modeling, automated security implementations, and routine disaster recovery testing in multi-region cloud environments.
- Optimize the use of standard tooling, infrastructure, and architectural patterns to enhance development velocity, operational efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
- Apply cost optimization strategies using cloud-native monitoring, usage analytics, and automation to manage spend while maximizing return on investment (ROI).
Team Leadership & Development:
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing, cross-functional cloud team composed of architects, engineers, and operations professionals.
- Foster a culture of cross-functional collaboration across ADP business units, engineering teams, product management, security, legal, and other key stakeholders. Promote innovation, continuous learning, and the upskilling of team members in modern cloud technologies.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure the seamless integration and delivery of scalable, secure, and reliable cloud solutions.
- Serve as a technical change agent and cloud evangelist, guiding stakeholders through platform transformation and the adoption of modern development practices.
- Act as a thought leader and advocate for cloud-first strategies, driving organizational change and alignment with future-state architecture.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management:
- Partner with cloud service providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and third-party vendors to leverage cutting-edge technologies and professional services, while managing relationships and negotiating contracts and SLAs to drive favorable outcomes.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders—including IT, security, finance, and business units—to evaluate, select, and align cloud technology partners with business goals and architectural standards.
- Work cross-functionally with security, finance, and IT leaders to assess vendor fit, negotiate agreements, and ensure compliance with governance and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a comprehensive third-party strategy by eliminating duplicative technologies, optimizing operational costs, and addressing skill consolidation opportunities to enhance team productivity and platform efficiency.
Innovation and Emerging Technologies:
- Serve as a public-facing technical leader to represent ADP’s cloud modernization at conferences, webinars, and industry forums.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends in cloud computing, evaluating their potential for business impact.
- Drive innovation by piloting and implementing new cloud technologies and solutions.
Risk & Security Management:
- Define and implement a comprehensive security, risk management, and governance strategy, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and safeguarding cloud environments against threats.
- Ensure technical governance and auditing are baked into every stage of the deployment lifecycle, leveraging secure IaC and automated policy enforcement.
- Design resilient cloud infrastructures with high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans, leveraging multi-region architectures and redundancy to minimize downtime and data loss.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent experience
- Architect Certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Architect, Google Cloud Professional Architect).
- IT governance and security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, ITIL) are advantageous.
Experience:
- 12+ years of experience in IT, with specific roles in cloud strategy, migration, and enablement.
- Proven hands-on experience designing and implementing enterprise-grade solutions on major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Strong leadership in driving adoption of cloud technologies, with a demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and contribute directly to architecture and implementation.
- Track record of enabling cloud transformations at scale in highly regulated or complex environments.
- Proven experience in leading large-scale cloud transformation and modernization projects.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud in enterprise environments.
- Record of accomplishment of managing cross-functional teams across geographies
- Experience in negotiating vendor contracts and managing third-party service providers.
Technical Skills
- Expertise in cloud architecture, including public, private, and hybrid cloud models.
- Extensive experience in cloud platforms and technologies, AWS / Azure
- Proficiency in cloud-native development with expertise in modern technologies such as microservices, containers (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker), serverless architectures, and orchestration tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, Helm Charts, CloudFormation).
- Strong understanding of CI/CD technologies and automation
- Deep understanding of security frameworks, cloud governance, and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, SOC 2, ISO 27001), with proven expertise in data protection and regulatory compliance.
- Strong Design experience OOPS Concepts, Principles and Design Patterns.
- Experience in leading Agile and managing cross-functional distributed teams.
- Familiarity with AI/ML technologies and their integration into cloud solutions.
- Strong analytical skills to optimize cloud usage, costs, and performance.
- Comprehensive knowledge of disaster recovery, business continuity planning, and multi-region architecture to ensure resiliency and reliability.
