Job Summary:

The Application Architect is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-class systems and processes that support the organization’s mission and strategic goals. This role defines the baseline and target architecture for production environments and ensures alignment with business and technology strategies. The Enterprise Architect identifies design gaps, recommends enhancements, and ensures the stability, interoperability, scalability, and security of enterprise systems.


This is a proposal-based position; employment is contingent upon contract award and funding availability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain enterprise-wide architecture documentation and roadmaps, including baseline and target architecture models.

  • Align architectural standards and frameworks with overall business and IT strategy.

  • Analyze current and future architectural models, identify gaps, and recommend solutions to improve performance, scalability, and maintainability.

  • Design and implement automated build and deployment pipelines and DevSecOps practices.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

  • Lead technical teams in the design, development, and deployment of enterprise systems and platforms.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical, performance, and functional issues in complex environments.

  • Ensure 24/7 availability and high performance of enterprise-scale applications serving tens of thousands of users.

  • Contribute to architectural governance, code quality standards, and best practices.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related analytical, scientific, or technical discipline.

  • Experience: 10+ years of relevant experience, including:

    • Programming and software development.

    • Architecting enterprise solutions based on customer requirements.

    • Leading teams in technical solution design and implementation.

    • Building and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines and platforms.

    • Supporting enterprise applications with large-scale user bases and 24/7 uptime.

    • Diagnosing and resolving complex system issues (technical, functional, and performance).

  • Active Top Secret security clearance.

Technical Skillsets:

Front-End Development:

  • JavaScript (ES6+), Angular, Material UI

  • RESTful API design and implementation

  • Code quality and standardization practices
     

Back-End Development:

  • .NET Framework 4+, C#, F#

  • OpenText Content Server
     

Development Tools:

  • Git (source control)

  • Azure DevOps (project management and pipelines)

  • Static Application Security Testing (SAST) tools such as SonarQube, GitLab SAST

  • Unit and integration testing (e.g., xUnit, NUnit)

  • Automated and end-to-end testing (e.g., Selenium, Cucumber)
     

Platforms & Infrastructure:

  • Attribute-Based and Role-Based Access Control paradigms (ABAC/RBAC)

  • Windows Service Fabric

  • Splunk administration

  • Windows Server administration
     

Data Platforms:

  • SQL Server 2019+

  • SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
     

Business Analysis & Project Management:

  • Agile principles

  • Azure DevOps for work item tracking, planning, and collaboration

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., TOGAF, AWS/Azure Solutions Architect, PMP, CISSP)

  • Experience with cloud-native architectures and microservices

  • Familiarity with DevSecOps and security-first architecture

  • Background in highly regulated or mission-critical industries (e.g., government, healthcare, finance)
