Position Summary:

Trend Micro Cyber Threat is seeking an AI Cyber Threat Research Intern to join our industry-leading research team in Canada. Trend Micro Research supports a global customer base including leading security product vendors, software and high-tech manufacturers, telecommunications providers, and large enterprise customers with a set of industry-leading technical data feeds, research products, and engineering services. 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, analyze, and process comprehensive Threat Intelligence datasets for AI training.

  • Develop, train, and test an AI-driven system to assist in creation of filters, and rules tailored to our solutions

  • Conduct benchmarking and performance comparisons to identify bottleneck and opportunity to optimize 

  • Work closely with other AI researchers and security researchers to improve the efficiency of end-to-end AI pipeline, and ensure seamless integration with existing systems 

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, or related fields of study

  • A strong desire to learn, demonstrated through personal projects or self-directed learning

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, being able to convey highly technical information in a succinct and accurate way

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills demonstrated through past experience

  • Strong knowledge in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Generative AI, along with experience in fine-tuning Large Language Models (LLMs)

  • Proficiency in program languages, such as Python

  • Practical experience of development in cloud environments

  • Prior experience with an open-ended applied project of ML model to address a real-world problem would be an asset

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Course work in Data Structures, Algorithms, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence

  • Experience in large-scale data processing, including data gathering, cleaning, and preprocessing

  • Proven ability to successfully design, implement, and efficiently execute end-to-end AI pipeline

  • Strong programming skills in Python
