Your opportunity:

The University of Toronto Libraries is seeking a Network Security Manager to join our team. Under the direction of the Manager of Enterprise Infrastructure & Staff Technology in the Library Information Technology Services department, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the Library Information Technology Services' information security program.This encompasses the creation and execution of security policies and procedures, as well as the design and deployment of security technologies and practices. With a deep knowledge of IT security tools and a keen awareness of the constantly evolving threats, the individual in this role will assess the performance of the Information Security Program, pinpoint vulnerabilities, and offer suggestions. The candidate will also engage in the development of data governance procedures and policies, emphasizing data stewardship and protection, especially in regards to library data. Furthermore, this role involves implementing the risk management framework by orchestrating and managing risk assessment activities throughout the IT infrastructure, covering applications, networks, databases, servers, and other endpoints. Compliance-related activities will also be an integral part of the role, ensuring the alignment and adherence to relevant standards in the IT security domain.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing, maintaining, and ensuring the security of University networks
  • Analyzing operational requirements to implement plans for network and internet presence
  • Analyzing, recommending and designing internal network solutions to meet client needs
  • Defining requirements and scope of complex projects with broad impact and long-term consequences
  • Serving as an expert resource to a group of professionals in the speciality

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
  • Seven years of experience in IT security or related field
  • Strong knowledge of security protocols and industry best practices
  • Familiarity with vendor application security assessment and compliance frameworks (e.g. SOC 2 and HECVAT for higher education, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience with security tools, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and anti-virus software
  • Familiarity with network and web-related protocols, such as TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, and SSL
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Relevant security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM) an asset.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone: USW Pay Band 18 -- $114,486. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $146,408. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
