SAP NS2 Director - Security Engineering

This position requires access to customer data.  Must be a U.S. citizen; SAP NS2 does not offer Visa sponsorships for this role.  All internals must have manager’s approval to transfer.   

Position Overview: 

The Director of Security Engineering is responsible for leading the ISSE Operations, SIEM, and Security Automation teams in the design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise security solutions across AWS, Azure, and GCP environments. This role requires both a strong technical background and proven leadership expertise to drive the execution of security strategies, optimize security operations, and ensure alignment with applicable compliance frameworks. The Director will collaborate closely with Engineering, GRC, and Operations teams to secure both cloud and on-premises environments, maintain a robust security posture, and ensure adherence to security best practices.  

 Key Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee daily operations and execute strategic security initiatives across ISSE, SIEM, and Automation teams, driving process improvements and ensuring timely resolution of security infrastructure issues 

  • Oversee implementation and optimization of security technologies including SIEM, vulnerability management, and endpoint protection.   

  • Collaborate with GRC and Operations teams to implement and enforce technical security controls to meet and maintain NIST 800-53 and CMMC control framework requirements. 

  • Lead, mentor, and grow high-performing security engineering teams to meet organizational security requirements 

  • Collaborate across technical teams, vendors, and leadership to integrate security into operations, resolve support and procurement needs, and advise executives on risks, threats, and security metrics. 

 Qualifications 

 
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science/Engineering, Information Security, or related discipline 

  • 10+ years experience with at least 5 years of progressive leadership experience in leading engineering teams 

  • Extensive experience in securing multi-cloud environments, including AWS, GCP, and Azure. 

  • Successful track record of developing and operating complex security services across a large organization 

  • Successful track record growing talent and building high performing security teams 

  • Strong problem-solving skills, analytical capability and a pragmatic approach to business  

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences 

  • Demonstrated ability to lead security initiatives, communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, and manage budgets and vendor relationships to support strategic objectives. 

 Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience managing security teams in regulated environments (e.g., FedRAMP, financial sector, government). 

  • Proven experience with Infrastructure-as-Code technologies tools such as Terraform and Ansible to streamline deployment and operational workflows. 

  • Proven experience implementing and managing GitOps workflows

  • Demonstrated knowledge of core Kubernetes concepts such as pods, services, ingress, RBAC, and CRDs. Experience leading teams on the strategic design and implementation of Kubernetes-based infrastructure in multi-cloud environments. 

  • Active security clearance preferred

  • Location: Hybrid/Remote. Candidates located in DC/NOVA geographic area highly preferred.

Compensation Range Transparency: SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is 164700 - 280100(USD) USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
