Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and highly-skilled Cyber Security Project Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of complex security projects within our organization. The successful candidate will have experience of managing straight consultancy projects, as well as onboarding new services into a Managed Services environment.
The role requires the management of cross-functional teams, coordinating with Presales, Professional Services and Service Delivery and key client stakeholders to ensure the successful deployment of security initiatives that protect IT infrastructure, data, and digital assets.
You will have a strong background in Project Management with a proven track record in cyber security, coupled with strong leadership skills and the ability to navigate a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
The successful candidate will have experience across a number of the technologies we provide, such as EDR, XDR, NDR, MDR, TVM, Firewalls etc and will ideally have delivered projects using products from class-leading vendors including Microsoft, Rapid7, CrowdStrike, Trellix, Sentinel One, Splunk, Qualys, DarkTrace, Vectra, Fortinet and Checkpoint.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of cyber security projects from handover to completion, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure, aligning with business goals and security objectives.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with internal teams, clients, external vendors and senior leadership to define project requirements, timelines and deliverables. Communicate project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Risk Management: Identify and assess security risks throughout the project lifecycle. Develop and implement mitigation strategies to address risks and ensure minimal impact to project timelines and organizational security posture.
- Team Coordination: Work closely with cybersecurity engineers, analysts, IT staff, and third-party vendors to ensure seamless collaboration and resource allocation. Facilitate project team meetings and track progress against milestones.
- Security Requirements Management: Ensure that all projects adhere to internal security policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, NIST, ISO 27001).
- Budget and Resource Management: Oversee the project budget, ensuring efficient use of resources. Track project expenditures and adjust project plans as necessary to meet budgetary constraints.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, RAID logs, project change documentation, risk/issue acceptance, progress reports, and post-implementation reviews. Provide regular updates to executive leadership on project health and security posture improvements.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance processes and practices, contributing to the overall improvement of the organization’s project delivery function.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, CISSP, CISM, CISA) is a plus.
- Experience:
- At least five years experience managing IT projects, including a minimum of two years managing cyber security projects, preferably within large enterprise environments.
- A minimum of two years experience of working within a Managed Services environment, delivering multiple concurrent projects to a range of clients operating in multiple sectors.
- Previous experience of 'Bid / RFP Experience' is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of cyber security concepts, risk management and security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Controls).
- Familiarity with security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), endpoint protection, encryption, identity and access management (IAM) and security information and event management (SIEM).
- Experience with cloud security, application security and network security is highly desirable.
- Project Management Skills:
- Expertise in project management methodologies (Waterfall, Agile etc.).
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and deadlines.
- Strong organizational, time management and multitasking skills.
- Communication Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex cyber security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong presentation skills and the ability to lead meetings and briefings with executives.
- Certifications (Preferred):
- Prince2 Practitioner
- PMP (Project Management Professional)
- CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)
- CISM (Certified Information Security Manager)
- ITIL or other relevant certifications.
