The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Welltower’s enterprise network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability. This role will manage network operations, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to strategic initiatives to enhance connectivity and scalability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, configure, and deploy network solutions, including LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless systems.
  • Implement and support network infrastructure projects to align with organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate network systems with other IT services.
  • Monitor network performance, ensuring uptime and adherence to SLAs.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, updates, and patches to ensure network reliability and security.
  • Manage and maintain network hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex network issues, minimizing downtime and disruption.
  • Respond to and mitigate network incidents promptly, documenting root causes and resolutions.
  • Participate in on-call rotations for after-hours support.
  • Configure and manage network security tools, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption protocols.
  • Implement and enforce network access controls to protect sensitive data and comply with regulations.
  • Monitor for vulnerabilities and participate in regular audits and risk assessments.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Generate and present network performance reports and metrics to IT leadership.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and recommend enhancements to improve network performance and scalability.
  • Develop and implement best practices for network management and optimization.

TRAVEL

Some out-of-area and overnight travel will be expected.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of experience in network engineering or a similar role.
  • Proficient in configuring and managing network devices (Cisco, Juniper, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, etc.).
  • Experience with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark).
  • Familiarity with cloud networking (Azure, AWS, or similar platforms).
  • Significant experience in a managed services environment highly preferred.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher.
  • CompTIA Network+ or similar networking certifications.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent is a plus.
