Site Reliability EngineerWhat does a successful Site Reliability Engineer do at Fiserv?
As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) you will manage a small network end-to-end with expertise in infrastructure, networking, virtualization, and automation. You will be responsible for overseeing a farm of VMs, collaborate with vendors on firewall management and ensure the seamless operation of Windows and Ubuntu Linux environments.
In addition you will ensure proper configuration, patching, and hardening as well as develop and maintain scripts using Python and PowerShell to automate deployments, system maintenance, and configuration tasks.
You will implement and maintain monitoring tools to track system performance, health, and alert as well as proactively address issues, perform root-cause analysis, and minimize downtime through effective incident response.
What you will do:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the Mortgage Director application environment
- Configure and maintain VMware environments, including memory, CPU, and storage resources (Pure LUNs)
- Set up and manage storage drives at the OS level based on usage requirements
- Troubleshoot and resolve OS-level issues to maintain system stability and security
- Continuously improve CI/CD processes to streamline releases and reduce manual overhead.
- Ensure systems meet security and compliance standards; collaborate with security teams to remediate vulnerabilities
- Monitor logs, perform audits, and ensure adherence to best practices for data protection and privacy
- Maintain clear, detailed documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps
What you will need to have:
- 3+ years of experience in site reliability, Systems Engineering, or related role managing infrastructure at scale
- 3+ years of experience in networking including network protocols, firewall concepts, routing, and switching
- 3+ years of experience in Windows Server & Linux (Ubuntu) Administration
- 3+ years of experience in Virtualization with hands-on experience with VMware vSphere
- 3+ years of experience in scripting & automation with proven ability in Python and PowerShell
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, work, or military experience
What would be great to have:
- Experience in fintech/payments environments
- Database Knowledge: Familiarity with SQL Server administration
- Failover Clustering: experience configuring and managing failover clusters to ensure system resiliency
