The Security Programs Strategic Initiatives Team identifies and executes on strategic initiatives in support of the evolution of various security programs within the TELUS CSO. We are a result-driven team that designs and implements innovative solutions to solve business challenges with the goal of improving TELUS’ overall security posture and efficiency.
As a Senior Security Consultant, you will support the end-to-end delivery of strategic initiatives undertaken by the team, which could range from small-scale innovative process enhancements to large-scale revamp of the way our organization performs certain security functions. Within this role, you will have the opportunity to make a difference by tackling security and business challenges hands on, and partner with stakeholders from across the larger organization to ensure the successful outcome of our initiatives. This position offers a completely remote work opportunity, providing the flexibility to work from any location within Canada.
What you’ll do
- Lead the successful implementation of strategic initiatives, such as the rollout of a new security assessment platform and process to support security reviews and risk management
- Collaborate with various stakeholders from across the organization to ensure alignment and adoption of our strategic initiatives
- Perform hands-on development tasks required for the initiatives using the selected technology stack
- Support development and presentation of the initiatives in order to provide leadership visibility and gather feedback
- Cultivate, influence, and promote a culture of security within the organization through our initiatives
Qualifications
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science
- 8 years’ overall experience working in an enterprise security environment
- At least 4 years’ experience delivering security solutions in an DevOps, R&D, and/or architecture capacity
- Experience developing software and scripts using common languages such as Python, Java, C++
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, ISO, OWASP) and best practices
- Excellent communication skills and collaboration abilities
Great-to-haves
- Experience delivering process improvement and automation
- Experience developing or deploying artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted solutions
- Security certifications (CISSP, CISA, or equivalent)
Advanced knowledge of English is required because you will most of the time interact in English with external parties (clients, suppliers, candidates, external partners, etc.); interact in English with internal parties (colleagues, internal partners, stakeholders, etc.); and work with IT tools whose interface is only accessible in English as part of this position's main responsibilities given its national scope.
