Bank for International SettlementsThe Bank for International Settlements, BIS is looking for a Cybersecurity Specialist to join our Cybersecurity Operations team.
This role is based in Basel, however, thanks to our status as an international organization, we can hire globally and welcome applications from candidates of all nationalities and located anywhere in the world. Relocation support is available for the successful candidate and their dependent family members.
Purpose of the role:
At the BIS our mission is to support central banks' pursuit of monetary and financial stability through international partnership and to act as a bank for central banks.
As a Security Specialist in our Cybersecurity Operations unit, you will play a vital role in safeguarding this mission. Your expertise will directly contribute to protecting the Bank’s critical operations, enabling us to serve central banks worldwide. In this role, you will be at the forefront of our cybersecurity efforts, supporting essential services such as Incident Response, Vulnerability Management, Compliance Monitoring, and Threat Hunting.

Principal accountabilities:
Incident Response
· Assist in the identification and analysis of security incidents.
· Participate in incident investigation and containment efforts.
· Document and report on incident findings and remediation actions.
· Collaborate with other teams to improve incident response processes and procedures.
Vulnerability Management
· Analyze scan results to identify potential security weaknesses.
· Assist in prioritizing and remediating identified vulnerabilities.
· Track and report on the status of vulnerability remediation efforts.
Compliance Monitoring
· Monitor systems and processes to ensure compliance with security policies.
· Assist in conducting internal audits and assessments.
· Document and report compliance findings and recommendations.
· Collaborate with stakeholders to address compliance gaps and improve security posture.
Threat Hunting
· Assist in proactive threat hunting activities to identify potential security threats.
· Analyse network and system logs to detect suspicious activities.
· Develop and implement threat detection rules and signatures.
· Document and report on threat hunting findings and collaborate on mitigation strategies.
Qualifications, skills, and experience:
· We welcome applicants who demonstrate a commitment to self-learning and continuous development in the cybersecurity/IT field, including independent study, certifications, or personal projects.
· Proficiency in programming and scripting using a major language.
· Knowledge of prioritisation methods for security management, such as CVSS scoring.
· Familiarity with CIS security standards and their application in compliance monitoring.
· Hands-on experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.
