Schnabel Engineering is hiring a Cyber Security Specialist to play a vital role in keeping the company’s data, infrastructure, and services secure. This position requires an ethical, reliable, detail-oriented individual who stays current on IT security trends with experience researching and resolving security threats.
This person will proactively monitor the company’s network to identify potential security risks, report on security breaches, create/update documentation, implement security policies, and train employees on security best practices.

The Cyber Security Specialist will work closely with the Security Team to:
- Collect and analyze logs for cybersecurity issues, high risks, unusual activity, etc.
- Respond to immediate alerts based upon risks
- Review reported phishing attempts and attachments to security risks
- Utilize and manage security software and applications
- Resolve cybersecurity issues with credential attacks and business email compromise
- Assist in Incident Response and Remediation
- Assist in the implementation of security initiatives, solutions, and applications
- Assist in identifying and resolving cybersecurity vulnerabilities across systems and networks
- Asist in obtaining and researching new security applications and solutions
- Assist in evaluating new software for security risks and possible vulnerabilities
- Assist with employee cybersecurity education and phish simulations
- Assist in building security policies and documentation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, or equivalent field.
- At least one year’s work experience as a Security Specialist, Systems Administrator, or Network Administrator
- Security+ Certification
- Experience with some of these: Active Directory, Microsoft M365, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, CrowdStrike, Knowbe4, Zscaler, Cisco Umbrella, Nessus
Other Requirements:
- Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record, and credit check
- Ability to work independently and with the team to research and resolve issues
- Ethical and reliable with strong attention to detail
- Ability to stay current on IT security trends and threats
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication (verbal and written)
The compensation range for a Cybersecurity Specialist is between $35/hour to $50/hour. Compensation for this position may vary based on geographic location and other factors. We remain committed to providing competitive and equitable compensation to all employees, regardless of their location.
