Trellix ESS Subject Matter Expert (SME) 

 

Peraton is seeking a Trellix Endpoint Security System (ESS) SME to manage and optimize ESS solutions within secure DoD network environments, such as SUNet. This hybrid role requires expertise in endpoint security, cybersecurity best practices, and compliance with DoD standards, including STIGs. The SME will support the deployment, operation, and maintenance of ESS components critical to mission success, with on-site work in Alexandria, VA or Kearneysville, WV.\

 

Key Responsibilities:

• System Administration: Administer ESS infrastructure across multiple enclaves; install, configure, and maintain ESS servers in compliance with DoD STIGs and contract requirements.

• Deployment & Configuration: Independently deploy and optimize ESS components, including Trellix Agent, ENS, DLPe, PA, RSD, and TACC.

• Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Perform advanced troubleshooting (Tier IV), policy tuning, and signature analysis for ENS firewall, Solidcore, and DLP.

• Reporting & Analysis: Generate operational reports and visualizations from security tools to assess and communicate ESS health and performance.

• Policy & Compliance: Develop and maintain ESS configurations and SOPs to align with NIST and RMF cybersecurity frameworks.

• Cybersecurity Integration: Support threat detection and response; integrate ESS with tools like ACAS, Elastic, and Tanium.

• Endpoint Coverage: Lead discovery efforts to ensure complete ESS deployment and endpoint coverage across the enterprise.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or related STEM field with 5 years of relevant experience; alternatively, Associate's degree with 7 years, High School diploma/equivalent with 9 years, or Master’s degree with 3 years of experience.

• Expertise in Trellix ESS (or HBSS) modules, including deployment, configuration, operation, and troubleshooting.

• Proficient with cybersecurity tools such as ACAS, Splunk, ForeScout, Palo Alto Firewalls, and vulnerability assessment tools (Nessus, SCAP, STIGs, SRGs).

• Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, RMF).

• Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite and O365, including Teams.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of managing both detailed tasks and strategic objectives.

• Mid-level experience in ESS/HBSS administration or equivalent cybersecurity roles.

• U.S. Citizen with active Secret clearance or higher.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Trellix certifications (e.g., Trellix Certified Product Specialist), DISA ESS 201/301/501 Series.

• DoD 8570-compliant certifications such as Security+, CISSP, or equivalent.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments diplomatically.

Target Salary Range

$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
