RMC is hiring Computer Engineers to support our Navy customer in Crane, Indiana. The Computer Engineer will research, design, develop, and test computer hardware and software systems supporting a diverse range of Department of Defense (DoD) and federal customers, including the US Navy, Marine Corps, Army, Air Force, Special Operations Command, Intelligence agencies, and Homeland Security. The role requires expertise in both hardware and software engineering, with responsibilities spanning system integration, software development, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), data fusion, and technical support in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Research, design, develop, and test computer hardware components (e.g., chips, circuit boards, systems, peripherals) and software programs to meet technical and operational requirements.
  • Supervise the manufacturing, installation, and integration of computer hardware and related equipment, ensuring compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain software systems, including operating systems, network distribution software, compilers, and application software.
  • Analyze user needs, design algorithms, and construct, test, and maintain computer applications and systems software.
  • Apply principles of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis to solve complex technical problems and optimize system performance.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate hardware and software solutions, ensuring seamless operation and security across IT and tactical systems.
  • Support system integration, rapid prototyping, research and development, configuration management, and sustainment for IT and software-centric systems.
  • Stay current with technological advancements and incorporate new technologies into existing and future systems.
  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and validation testing for hardware and software, including cloud, cybersecurity, and data management solutions.
  • Participate in quality assurance, documentation, and process improvement initiatives to maximize productivity, efficiency, and accountability.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in computer hardware and/or software engineering, preferably in a defense or government environment.
  • Strong understanding of computer architecture, embedded systems, and software development principles.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
  • Experience with hardware design tools (e.g., CAD, FPGA development), and familiarity with operating systems (Linux, Windows, macOS).
  • Knowledge of AI, ML, cybersecurity, data fusion, and cloud computing technologies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.

·         An active DoD SECRET clearance is required to start. The applicant selected may be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or related discipline.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, PMP, or relevant technology certifications (AWS, Cisco, Microsoft).
  • Experience with rapid prototyping, RDT&E, and configuration management in a DoD or federal environment.
  • Familiarity with sensor and data fusion, information assurance, and sustainment of IT/software-centric systems.

Salary at RMC is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, a candidate's specific combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific requirements. The current salary range for this position will be $66,000 to $120,000 (annually).
